Authors Comment: This is not one of my best writings. It was a quickie I did as a request for a friend who absolutely adores Momiji. Personally I am a Kyo X Tohru fan but I also support Momiji X Tohru and am so happy that this pairing is somewhat cannon after reading volume 20.
Beautiful Happiness
A faint melody floated through the air with the evening breeze. The fading day's sun was setting below the brightly colored sky.
"Twilight sure is beautiful," Tohru thought wistfully as thoughts of her eventful days wandered through her mind. The wind gently rustled the leaves outside and the small creaking of the balcony alerted Tohru of another's presence. She turned her head abruptly as Momiji took a seat beside her.
"I think many things are beautiful," Momiji stated as he swayed his legs off the edge of the deck.
"Mm…I think your music is magnificent." Tohru declared. "I wish you would play it more often."
"My dream is to perform a concert for my family. Until I perfect my skills however, I prefer the secluded-ness of my room…Unfortunately, my father is afraid of my mother becoming aware of my existence, making my dream far from attainable." Momiji continued and spoke words beyond the wisdom of an average fifteen year old. Words of pain and sorrow; a pain of being close enough to touch someone yet never able to reach them. The pain was enough for Tohru to cry tears of sympathy and let a small sob escape her petite lips.
Even through his tale of trails and tribulations, he found a way to smile. His cheerful disposition never left his voice until he spoke the words of his sister. A painful jab shook his heart; he hunched his shoulders ever so slightly. Even through her teary eyes Tohru noticed the small change in posture. She felt an unexplainable bond to the blonde. Together they could make one another joyful and smile even when tears streamed down their faces. It was as if they completed each other. A piece of the puzzle that corrected the emptiness in their lives.
"I-I'll always watch you perform," Tohru whispered. She wished with all of her heart that she could stop Momiji's problems and bring a genuine smile back to his features.
"I know," He whispered back, and with that, he leaned over slightly and closed the distance between each other. He gently placed a delicate kiss on Tohru's lips. A heat contrasting with the night air radiated off of Tohru as Momiji broke the kiss. Her face reddened more but she ignored it as she grabbed Momiji's hand.
The first star twinkled in the sky as they accepted the other's company. "I wish for your happiness," They thought in unison as night blanketed the sky.
