I stand outside his window and drop a note on the sill. I stare at him a few minutes more and then turn to leave. Taking one last glace at his pure angelic face and dark contrasting raven hair and disapearing into the night. I know in the morning he will see the note and will first feel pain and then understanding of why I could not stay.
I wake the next morning feeling uneasy. I'm drawn to my window and find a note on the sill. When I see the way my name is written I am glad I left my window open last night. I rush to open the note and my face falls after the first few words.
My dearest sasuke,
When you look at me do you see my heart or a shadow?
A shadow never meant to be unknown,
To protect those from the anger and hatred within.
Do you see my heart or a pit?
A pit of suffering meant to be put away,
To shield those who are innocent.
Do you see my heart or a mask?
A mask so rotten and dark,
So sinister and wicked it shouldn't see the light,
To watch over those who do wrong,
To make sure justice is served.
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see my heart?
Do you see a pit?
Do you see a mask?
Or do you see my hope and dreams?
My desires, the little things that keep me going each day?
What makes my life worth living and the reason I ask these questions?
What do you see?
I put the note down and look out the window smiling. "It was always your heart aniki. Always your heart."
