Hey guys! So yeah this is just a small story I wrote while taking my test to move on grade level. It's short, but from what I've heard, its really depressing. Oh well hope you all enjoy, and review please?
My mother rummaged through her mahogany closet, desperately searching for a bottle of sunscreen. My younger siblings piled their tools to make the most epic sand castle ever on the trunk of the truck. My father hurdled a stash of chicken and steaks on his small freezer. I imaptiently waited for my iPod to charge full battery. Today we were indeed taking a trip to the beach.
My iPod makes a small Clink! noise, indicating that the battery is now full. I disconect it from its charger, then dash outside, closely followed by my mother, who is now clutching a bright purple bottle of sunscreen is her grasp.
"Don't forget to feed the cat!" she tells me, splattering my sister's face with the white substance.
The cat!
I rush into the kitchen, and pull the steel gray cabinet doors open. I pluck a small can of cat food from its pile, then slam the doors closed. I hurry outside to the massive orange tree, which provides shade from the heat of the sun. My cat usually hanged out here.
I whistle a small tune to catch her attention. Nothing. I pace around the backyard a few times, but it is useless. She is nowhere to be found.
The horn of the truck blares to life, and my father demands me to hop in. But I can't. Not in a situation like this one. I shake my head. My father curses under his breath, and in a blink of an eye he's out of the driveway.
I sink down into a tree stump, and immeately tears sink down my face. How could she possibly be gone? My mind floods with the memories we had together. Her first day with me, her first visit to the vet, her jumping up and down at the park.
Snap!
I come back to reality. Through the blurriness, I can make out a small, plump figure resting on the grass. It's her! It's her!
I squeeze her in my arms. The warmness of her fur brings a smile to my face. It's really her!
I run my fingers through her tummy. Soft. Warm. Sticky. Sticky?
I scan her stomach, only to find a large wound, the size of my index finger, a few centimeters over her leg. It is surrounded by small chunks of blood.
I can't believe my eyes. I must act soon, or she'll bleed to death!
I squeeze my fingers through the opening of the wound, hoping to find the source. Blood is dripping from her already soaking wet fur, and is now crashing on to my shirt. I'm debating whether to stick my fingers out or not, when I feel it. My finger is pricked by something sharp, something I've been cut by before. Slowly and carefully, I pull it out. It's a piece of glass.
My cat meows, and I can feel its pain. Her heartbeat is getting fainter and fainter. I press my lips onto her cheek, and she twitches her whiskers. Her eyes flutter shut. And that's when her heart hauls to a stop.
I lay down on the grass, next to her now motionless body. My eyes burst, and I'm crying like a sink twisted on. She's gone, and there's nothing I can do to bring her back.
What had been originally planned to be a fun day at the beach, resulted to be the death of my beloved pet, Oreo.
It is never easy to loose your best friend.
Hope you all enjoyed! Remember, please review? Also, should I begin a new story? o:
