Chapter 1: Faithful Encounter
I'm late. I'm so late. How could I forget my brother's script that he told me to bring to his work? Well, I think I'm in trouble.
"Sorry I'm late Phil," I yelled.
"Why are you apologizing? I'm the one who forgot them," Phil reminded me.
"Oh, right," I laughed.
Well, my twenty-five year old brother, Phil, is a director. He is a serious bossy director. I live with him in a small apartment. I know its surprising isn't it? Phil told me it's best to save money, and live a healthy life.
"Is there anything I can do older brother?" I told him sarcastically.
"Alright what do you want?" Phil questioned.
"Can I have five bucks? I'm going to get some smoothies."
"Fine," Phil sighed.
As you can see I freeload off of my brother. Well, what can you say? I'm a nineteen year old part-time college student and I don't have a job. Pretty poor don't you think? I don't even drive too. I'm pretty useless.
"I'll see you later Phil," I waved to him.
Luckily the café was two blocks away from where my brother is working at. It's my favorite café called The Jazz Cats. It's been open for twenty years and I've been going here as a kid. The café sells delicious pastry food and refreshing drinks.
"Good morning Joe!" I smiled to the cashier.
"Hey, Brian! Want the usual?" Joe asked.
"Yeah strawberry smoothie," I replied. "Oh, with lots of fresh strawberries."
"Got it."
Joes is a sixty year old man who owned the restaurant ever since he bought it. He is completely bald and very short. He is very healthy for an old man. His wife passed away a year ago. He seems depressed every day, but I try to cheer him up.
"There you go kid. Enjoy!" Joe smiled.
"Thanks Joe."
As I rushed back to my brother's work I bumped into this man right outside the café.
"I'm sorry! You alright?" the man apologized.
"Y-Yeah," I replied. "Man, the smoothie spilled all over my shirt."
"Here let me get a napkin," He rushed inside the café and grabbed a napkin.
"No I can wipe it myself," I said.
"Let me," He insisted.
He looks like a twenty-five year old man. He has a nice brown hair, and bright blue eyes. His face can be sold for a million dollars. He is an inch taller than me. Wait, what am I thinking? I have to get out of here fast.
"I apologize for bumping into you," He apologized, then smiled.
His voice sounds nice. His personality seems very polite and kind. Every single trait he has I fell for it.
"Don't worry about it," I told him. "Well, I have to get going."
"Wait!" he grabbed my arm, "Let me buy you a drink."
"Um, ok," I sighed.
We both sat on a round table right next to the window. It was kind of awkward sitting with a stranger.
"So, do you like this café?" he asked.
"Yeah. I come here a lot when I was a kid," I replied.
"That's nice," He smiled. "I just saw this cafe and thought it was a nice place."
"Your drinks are ready!" Joe yelled.
"Thanks Joe," I grabbed the smoothie. "It was nice talking to you," I faced the man.
"Wait! What's your name?" he questioned.
"Brian. Brian Don," I answered.
I dashed out of the café running back to my brother's studio.
