She walked slowly in the dark night, tears steadily dripping from her sober, blue eyes. Her eyes, so much like her mother's, yet so different. They were dead, cold, and lifeless, devoid of emotions. Hers were lively, joyful, full of spirit that she could never hope to have. She and her second mother walked side by side every day, every minute, every hour; and all she could do was to look on in envy as she travelled down the lonely path by herself. Redemption was hard, when you were the one who killed so many before, when you were the one who was responsible for the pain and suffering for so many.

She never thought that this day would come though, it was always slow, steady, kill after kill, never thinking, never stopping to reflect; kill after kill. She wanted to change so badly, but the path she walked was a lonely one. Her mother, redemption long gained, stood at the end, only able to encourage her, nothing more. Yet she stilled, not wanting to traverse this path anymore. She was tired, so, so tired of trying to change. But love, the damn emotion kept her going. She loved them so much, and felt so much remorse every time she looked into their eyes.

She raised her head, meeting the eyes of her mother, fully understanding at last why she chose this path.

It was all for love.
