An alternate ending to M*A*S*H episode 'Yessir, That's Our Baby'
Charles burst into the office. He had just returned from Tokyo. "Well?"
Klinger looked up from the phone. "She's on the phone."
Charles grabbed the phone away from the Arab American. "Hello? Honoria! Yes! Really? Yes…Yes! Thank you! Yes! See you soon!"
Charles hung up and raced outside to the jeep where Hawkeye, B.J. and Father Mulcady were getting ready to drive to the monastery to take the baby away.
"Hold that jeep! We don't have to take her to the monastery anymore!"
The camp stilled and turned to the normal stuffy surgeon.
"What are you talking about Winchester?" Colonel Potter asked.
Charles was grinning like a loon. "My family managed to use their connections in the States. My sister Honoria has successfully adopted her through the embassy! In a week she will have the citizenship papers complete and then go to Tokyo to take her back to Boston!"
The camp cheered. The little girl was finally going to not only have a family and be taken out of Korea.
"How did you do that? With all the hoops were tried to jump through?" B.J. asked.
"Do you remember Park Sung? The boy from the north? He said that he was her blood relative and gave his blessing. They are distant cousins, I did a test to confirm it. They allowed it and then my sister used her connection to take her!"
The camp cheered again and made their way to the Mess Tent to celebrate.
"Did she name her?" Margret asked as Charles took his niece into his arms.
Charles nodded and looked down at his niece. "From now on small one your name is Victoria Evangeline Winchester."
A few weeks later Charles and Victoria flew out to Tokyo to meet Honoria. Honoria took to the child instantly. She named Charles and Margret to be Victoria's godparents. Two days later they were gone.
Each month Honoria sent photos of little Victoria growing up. Until the day they left Korea it was Victoria's smile that reminded them, there is still good in the world.
