AN: Heyho everyone. First an apology to my subscribers for not posting for a really long time, and apology to my Homestuck-specific subs for not really posting. I know this isn't Homestuck (although Warframe is a really fun game) but I do have some (8) Homestuck stories in the works that I hope to get out soon.
Anywhosies, this was originally intended to be a really long one-shot, but then I decided that I wouldn't be able to do my concept justice in just one chapter. And, if someone out there likes this story then they can pester me to write more for it so it will get done faster. I hope to get out the next chapter soon, but with all of the other fics I have in the works (yes, I have more aside from the 8 aforementioned Homestuck ones) I can't say when "soon" is.
Thanks to attuitiveGalimatias for being my trustworthy beta, Andariel97 for the wonderfully amazing cover art, and a big thanks to Digital Extremes for creating Warframe!
Last but not least, thank you reader for finding this fic and I hope you enjoy!
I had only been awake for a month or so when it happened.
"An inbox message awaits the Operator. I wonder what it says...?"
I looked up to the corner of my HUD and sure enough, there was a notification for an unread inbox message. I open up my communications and select the message. It's a transmission from a fellow player called, "ArturPenn."
"Hello fellow Tenno," says a frame I don't recognize, but presume to be ArturPenn. "I really enjoyed running that last mission with you. I hadn't thought to use Excalibur's Radial Blind to stun the enemy so you could follow up with a single arrow through all of them. Work smarter not harder I guess.
"Anywho, now on to the main reason for my message. You see, I started up my own clan and I was wondering if you might be interested in joining. I'm out and about pretty much every day and am looking for promising tenno to join me.
"So what do you say, are you in?"
And after that, a small window popped up with the message, "Would you like to join the clan 'Ninjas of the Elliptical Table'?" with an option for the positive response and the negative response.
Void of any apparent downside, I promptly agreed, and not two minutes later I got another message, again from ArturPenn.
"Sweet! I knew I liked you. If you go and look in your foundry, I sent you the blueprint to make the key to the clan dojo. If you start that up now then I can show you around tomorrow if you want.
"Hopefully see you there.
"ArturPenn."
I head over to my foundry, and sure enough, the blueprint's already loaded up.
"Hmm… I don't have any morphics. Ordis? Where's the best place to get morphics?"
"Well, there are several places where morphics are located but the only location you have where you can… kill all the aliens… is Mercury."
"Okay. Then set a course for Mercury!"
~~20 minutes later~~
"Finally! Who would have thought, a locker of all things had morphics in it?"
Ordis chimed in, "Anything that can drop any form of loot can drop rare materials, even lockers or breakable containers."
"Well, that would have been nice to know a while ago." I sigh in exasperation. "Anyways, are we done here?"
"Extraction is ready if that is what you mean."
"Perfect, then take us home."
"'Us'? I thought the operator went into this mission solo as to not have to deal with other people not marking drops?"
Sigh. "Ordis… it's a figure of speech."
"Oh. Ha, haha. Then that was a good one."
"Ordis."
"Yes operator?"
"Just extract me already."
