.Chapter One .
TwilighT

I look out on the town from the roof of the little bakery on 121 East Lexington, a street full of little shops. Though it's not the tallest building on the square, it certainly had the best view of the twilight. This was the only place that you could see when the sun light hit the church just right. The green stain glass windows let out a blast of light then glistened a variation of gold, orange, and red. There was no where I'd rather be in the world, like there was any where else for me to go.

"Ay, Roxas!" A man yelled behind the boy from the roof top door. "I'm closin' up shop."

"Ok, I'll be down in a minute, Cid." I replied. Cid was my boss at the Bakery. Cid had short blonde hair and tan skin. He was just taller than me and was always ready with a sarcastic comment or a joke all while chewing on a toothpick.

I stood outside of the bakery as Cid locked the front door, and pulled down the security gate.

"I'm off. Don't break any hearts over the weekend, Roxas!" Cid said as he patted me on the back.

"I'll try," I said, "See ya Monday, Cid!" We waved each other off and left for home. I was looking for a reason not to go home. I started to walk around the square. I waved to the people as they passed. One of which was my friend from school. "Sora!" I shouted to the boy from across the street.

"Hey Roxas!" Sora yelled. He looked both ways as he jogging to my side of the street. "What's up? You on your way home from work?"

"Actually, I was looking for a reason not to go home." I said looking down at our feet.

"Well," Sora said looking up at me, "Let's hang out for a bit!" He said. He held up his hand and I grabbed it and we pulled tight for our hand shake and nodded at each other in agreement.

"What do you want to do?" I asked him.

"Let's go to the park," he said, "It's on our way home."

"Sure," I said, "Beat you there!" I started running as fast as I could, not bothering to look back to see that he was gaining on me.

We ran all the way to the park. Sora won the race, like he always did. Ever since we were kids, we would go to the park after school and play. We would stay there for hours sometimes. We could stay there for as long as we wanted now, yet it still wasn't long enough.

"Man, I'm starving!" Sora exclaimed. He stood up and put his hand out to help me get up. I grabbed his hand with a sign.

"What's wrong Roxas?" Sora asked me with an inflection that he did something to upset me.

"Nothing," I lied, "Just tired."

"Ok." He paused to look at his phone, "I'd better be going home. My mom has probably got dinner ready by now." He said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, and I still need to go to the store and get food." I said.

"Well, see you tomorrow." Sora said, grabbing my hand.

"See ya." I said returning the action. We hugged for a second and went on our ways in the opposite directions.

I turned the corner on to the street where the grocery store was on. By the time I got to the doors of the store I was trying to remember what it was I wanted to get. I got distracted when I saw a something bright red just over a shelf in back row of the store. 'Whoa! Is that hair?' I thought
