Nothing is ever truly forgotten, no matter how bad you wish it were. He knew this one fact more than anyone, and the pain and sorrow was etched forever into his heart. He hoped that after the years it would get better- the dull ache and emptiness- but with every fleeting day it seemed to get worse.
He tried to hide it from his companions, and though he did it well there were those few daunting times he forgot where he was and let his mask fall. He had wept countless tears for her, so much so that at times he was overcome with sorrow, only to be comforted by the presence of the voice interface (copying) her image. River was good for him, she was kind and adventure, but mostly she took his mind off her if only for a short time- for her image never truly left him. It was only when he was truly alone that he let his guard down to relinquish in the sorrow he still felt. he was ashamed, that he could love someone so much, that just her image would break his heart and render him in never ending sorrow.
moving from the console he sat down feet hanging out of the door-just as she loved to do- staring at the planet Barcelona. He had promised to take her one day, and on days that he truly felt sad he would sit wonder what it would be like if she were still here. slowly he reached into his pocket feeling for the smooth sharp corners of the box. Pulling it out he smiled, slowly he opened it to reveal a orange red diamond nestled into the black cloth. "Oh my beautiful rose, there's so much i wanted to show you, so much we still had to do. You promised me forever in the beat of your heart, and it was taken from us in the blink of an eye." a small tear slid down his face as he dropped the box back into his pocket. "know that you are loved Rose Tyler, by so many, but by no one more then me." He knew she was out there somewhere, perhaps staring out among the stars. He had to hope that he would see her one day, for that slim chance that he would meet her again keep him sane, and allowed him to keep going.
