Draco sat in the large arm chair in the Slytherin Common Room. He was completely alone and the room was silent but for the quiet crackling of the fire. He heard footsteps heading towards the common room entrance so he quickly jumped up and stuffed the piece of paper he was writing on in his pocket. The common room entrance opened to reveal none other than his father, Lucius Malfoy and his aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange. "Father, what are you doing here?" Draco asked. "I have important business with Dumbledore. I've brought your aunt along to see whether we can convince him to… Well, to do us a little favour." Replied Lucius. Bellatrix looked around the room with a smirk on her face: "It's nice to be back. I've missed this room. Wasn't a Mudblood in sight last time I was in this common room. Obviously this house's standards have gone out of the window." Lucius looked amusedly at his sister-in-law, "Please Bella, Not now. We have business to attend to. What's that in your pocket son?" Draco looked around the room in a blind panic to look for an excuse to escape. "Nothing Father, Nothing at all." Lucius looked at Bellatrix and nodded. "Very well son, Your Aunt and I shall be leaving now. Goodbye." Lucius gave Draco a swift nod and Bellatrix simply smirked. When the entrance finally closed behind them Draco breathed out in relief. He took the crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket and read it aloud:
Dear Hermione,
Please forgive me for all the times I've called you a Mudblood or have ever bullied you. It's only because I love you. I've loved you since the moment I saw you. Please understand my feelings and why I have to pretend to hate you. My family would disown me or worse if they ever found out that I love a muggle-born. Please understand.
Eternal love,
Draco
A tear ran down Draco's face as he crumpled up the piece of paper and threw it into the fire.
