Nuts or Hormonal
Nick walked in the house after pulling a double, he was tired but he was still in a great mood because he and Morgan had solved their case. He said hi to all the kids before he went out into the kitchen.
"Hi honey." He told Jackie as he came up behind her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Hi." Jackie told him as she returned the smile, but her smile immediately evaporated when she saw what was in his hands.
"What's that?" She asked as she nodded at the pizza box.
"I stopped and got pizza so you wouldn't have to cook tonight, I thought I'd give you a break." He told her.
He'd meant it as loving gesture but instead of being grateful Jackie went ballistic on him.
"Well you should have called first, I already made spaghetti for dinner." She snapped angrily.
"Oh, well, that's ok, we can have spaghetti, we'll save the pizza for tomorrow night, that way you won't have to cook." He said with a smile, trying to smooth things over between them.
"No, it's fine, we'll just have the pizza." She said icily.
"Honey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I was just trying to help you."
"You're so kind." She said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
She turned away from him, got a couple of steps away and then turned back to face him. "You are such a jackā¦" She started to say but she was interrupted by a small voice.
"Mommy?" Jasmine said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Rabbit." Jackie sputtered at Nick, catching herself so she wouldn't cuss in front of the little girl.
"What sweetheart?" Jackie asked as she turned her attention towards Jasmine.
"I'm hungry." The little girl told her.
"Mommy is making spaghetti kiddo, it will be ready in just a bit." Nick told her.
"No, daddy will get you a piece of pizza." Jackie said curtly before she waddled up the stairs.
Ten minutes later Nick went up to check on her. He found her on the bed with tears streaming down her face.
"I'm so sorry Nicky, I don't know what is wrong with me, I'm a lunatic, a crazy, blubbering, insane lunatic. I know you were only trying to be sweet, just like you always are and then I go off on you like that, you should divorce me, the only thing I ask is that we have joint custody of the children."
"Honey, I don't want a divorce and you're not crazy, just hormonal, it's ok." He told her as he sat down next to her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder.
"Thank you, thank you so much, I'll be normal again one day, I promise."
He smiled and kissed her on the forehead.
"Why don't you stay in here and have a few minutes of peace and quiet and I'll go feed the kids. How does that sound?"
"It sounds wonderful."
"Good, just put your feet up and read or watch TV for a while." He told her.
She smiled at him gratefully before he left the room.
She read one chapter of her book and then gingerly walked down the stairs.
Nick was sitting at the kitchen table with all the kids. As he promised, each child had a plate in front of them. On each of their plates there was a piece of pizza and a small pile of spaghetti, except for Hundley who he was feeding a mashed up banana, or at least he was trying to feed her but Hundley insisted that she do it herself and as a result she had banana all over the place. She had it on her face, hands, clothes and even all over Nick's face, because she insisted on sharing with her daddy and she was even worse with getting it into his mouth then she was getting it into her own.
Nick took it in stride, thanking the sweet, yet sticky toddler every time she attempted to feed him a bite.
Jackie just stood and watched and smiled, she truly was lucky to have Nick as her husband and her children were even luckier to have him as their daddy!
The End!
