How to Break Bonds

A.N. This happens sometimes after Orochimaru gives Sasuke the cursed seal. It's is kind of AU. My version of what could have happened. I like how the manga/anime did it, but I'm just trying it out.

Now this is just weird.

Sasuke's always a jerk, Naruto thinks, this time should be no different.

Yet, there he is.

Standing.

Not doing a single thing.

Naruto would be late and Sasuke would say something about being an idiot and being late.
Naruto would retort back and thus, their argument grew words of bastard, idiot, stupid, classic.
Somehow, verbal would get physical and punches and kicks are thrown in.
It is normal, so Sakura just watches in annoyance.

But today... nothing.

Sasuke does not even so much acknowledge his late arrival.
But he notices their sensei's even later arrival with a curt nod.

Naruto can't help but feel a little strange.

Day two, it happens again.

This time, Naruto isn't late.
He is early in fact, arriving at their designated spot before Sakura.
She comes minutes later, following by a quiet Sasuke.

Naruto shouts.

"Sasuke-teme! What took you so long!"

Sakura gives an irritated look and Sasuke makes no comment.
The blond glares at him but doesn't say anymore.

The same uneasiness comes back.

Following day, Sakura doesn't show up, her grandparents had passed away.

It was just Sasuke and Naruto, waiting for Kakashi.

"Hey Sasuke," Naruto says.

Sasuke turns to him, there is no response.

Another day, Sasuke doesn't appear.

Kakashi mentions something about sickness.

Naruto wonders when that had ever stopped Sasuke from doing anything.

A week passes, no missions to do. Naruto goes to Sasuke's house to see him.

Knock, knock.

"Hello..?"

Someone opens the door.

"You want something?"

Naruto seems to be at a lost for words for the moment, "Uh.. no.. just.."

"Don't bother me," and the door closes.

He doesn't talk to Sasuke for a long time.

Naruto starts to think there's something wrong.

The edgy feeling continues to solidify.

Something is up.

Naruto goes to Sasuke's house to talk again, but this time, more direct.

Sasuke only shoves him out the front door, telling him to leave him alone.

Naruto feels like Sasuke has been creating distance between everything.

He doesn't see him out at all.

It's wrong, it's terribly wrong.

He knows this but doesn't know what to do.

Sakura is crying.

Kakashi is distressed.

Naruto looks around.

Sasuke's not there.
