Hiya! It's me again with another 'Thoughts' story. This one focuses on a fictional assassin Ozai sends to kill Aang and the qualms he experiences about this.
Disclaimer: If I owned Avatar, it would be an older show. I'm thinkin' for audience ages, 12-15/16. But, sadly, I don't own it. But I can dream can't I?
When Fire Lord Ozai came to him with a mission, Koil wasn't all that surprised. He was the best firebender in his organization of assassins, possibly in the world. He was better than Ozai and Azula and Iroh and Zuko, which wasn't that hard. He was, however, surprised that Ozai had asked him to kill the Avatar, the airbender known as Aang. Ozai knew that Koil was the best, and Koil knew that Ozai knew that. They both also knew that, since the incident where Azula had zapped him, Aang had been more on alert than ever. This is the only reason that Ozai had called him. Koil was expensive, real real expensive. Even Ozai knew that since he was dealing with royalty, Koil would demand even more. Despite this, Ozai knew that Koil was also the best. He could sneak in to a fortress, take down his target, and be out before anyone knew what was going on. He was dark, ruthless, powerful, stealthy, underhanded, and proficient. Ozai knew that an invasion of the Fire Nation was imminent on the Day of Black Sun, so Koil that by the end of the next day, a day before the attack, there would be no one to challenge his hold on the world.
So that very night, clad in his midnight black apparel, Koil snuck into the camp where the Avatar was staying. Completely silent, he found the place where the Avatar and his friends were sitting: around a small campfire talking and laughing and smiling: him, the Avatar, the water tribe female, Katara, the water tribe warrior, Sokka, the blind earthbender, Toph, the female Kyoshi warrior Suki, the former Fire Nation general, Iroh, and the banished fire nation prince, Zuko. Koil got to a secure and secluded place and took careful aim at his target. The blind earthbender seemed aware of his presence, though she wasn't quite sure where he was. Koil knew he was going to have to be quick.
Just before he prepared to strike, he couldn't help but wonder what it felt like. The avatar's friends were smiling with him and laughing and giving him encouraging words about the next day's battle. Koil couldn't help but wonder what it felt like to have people care about you like that. Koil never had someone to turn to. He had no siblings. His parents were dead and the rest of his family just didn't care. And these people seemed to really love him. He felt a special connection between the Avatar and that Water Tribe girl.
Suddenly, he felt regret. He saw no reason to tear this boy away from people who loved him so, no matter how much money he would make, and he would make a whole lot. On the other hand, he had a perfect record. He had taken out each and every one of his targets, for and against the Fire Nation. He felt no reason to blemish this record, as he was very proud of it.
But still, he felt a yearning to keep this man alive on this world, to enjoy a love Koil never had ever received.
But still, he had never missed a kill, and he was really proud of that.
OoOoOoOoOoOh!!!!!! What happens next? I guess you'll never find out. Or will you? If I get enough reviews asking for me to continue, I will continue with Koil's story and tell you Aang's fate. Please! Review! If you do, I'd give you stuff. I would, but I'm just too selfish. Ha-Ha! IJK.
