Note: I don't believe in oneshots, but this is my first and probably only one. The two characters mentioned here are two of my favorite characters, yet they never conversed with one another in Path of Radiance. Thus, I decided to make this story.

This story occurs in the mission called "Clash." Where the Mercenaries and their allies rescue Castle Delbray from the Daein seige.

Fire Emblem: Silent Warriors

He swung his spear and charged into the fray, his heavy armor clanking across the ground. Daein foes fell left and right before him, and with each strike, an invisible tear came falling from his eye. He once was one of them, dying loyally for the King. But the new King was corrupt, and evil, yet not all of his policies were new.

Feral Ones, brainwashed and morphed beast men, pounced and dived onto the battlefield. As he watched and slew them, memories of the past overflowed his mind. There was a time when the Feral One's more docile brethren, the Laguz, as they were called, were executed because they were assumed to be a threat to Daein. The knight had killed these laguz believing that they would just as likely kill him if he did not strike. Now, killing Feral Ones, he realized the irony of his situation.

The knight failed to look behind him, and a lone Halberdier crept up from the rear to strike. The Halberdier carried a killer lance and, with eyes full of malice, wanted to pierce through the white armor and slay the knight where he stood.

But a roar echoed through the meadow, and a green tiger pounced onto the Halberdier. With a crack of bone, the enemy soldier lay dead.

The knight turned and eyed the green tiger, and it fiercely glanced from side to side, making sure that there were no foes in the distance, but it too failed to glance at every direction. From the corner of his eye, the knight saw an enemy Sniper aim his bow at the green tiger. The bow was a laguzslayer, famous for killing laguz with a single arrow. "NO!" The knight shouted as he hurled a short spear at the soldier. The spear hit his mark, and their foe fell.

The cries of victory echoed all around them, and the knight turned towards the green tiger, who morphed into a more humanoid form. The two men stood staring at each other.

Here was a laguz who was born a slave to humans, yet learned to trust them and respect them like his own kin. He would adopt a young human boy and care for him like he was his own firstborn. This was no ordinary laguz.

Here was a warrior who killed dozens of laguz in the name of the King, yet, in a time of crisis, would willingly stand beside the laguz and betray his own nation. This was no ordinary warrior.

The two men continued looking into each other's eyes, and, the green beast man, noticing the awkward silence between them, smiled at his comrade. He turned and walked away to join their allies in the victory feast.

The knight watched the laguz walk away, and gave a small smile in return.
