"Paul. Paaaaaaaul. Wakey wakey."
"Hm?" Paul looked up and blushed because he had been thinking of the boy that Ivan introduced to him a couple weeks ago. Secretly, he found John cute since their first encounter. Pete tapped his foot, having finally caught his attention. "So, me and John thought you were great two weeks ago, so...he wants to know if you want to join the band?" Paul couldn't believe it.
"Th-the Quarrymen? Yeah, I would! Thank you!" He was so happy. "I'll start after I go on my vacation, okay?"
"Sure."
Paul was back and with the band, trying to learn Bye Bye Love and All Shook Up. So far no one was doing very well. This isn't going too great, he thought. We need to do better. Maybe if we did some different songs...
"Hey guys!" They all looked at Paul. A few started to whisper. "I-I've been practicing Raunchy, if that helps!"
"Oh come on!" Rod shouted. "This band is turning into nothing but rock n' roll! I'm done!" He walked out, slightly fuming. Paul looked down sadly. "I'm sorry.."
"Oh, who needs him?" John patted him. "That's great you're learning songs, McCartney!" He felt his face heat up again. Maybe this won't be so bad?
This was it. The first time he would officially play in the band at a Conservative Club social in New Clubmoor Hall. Paul and John were wearing matching suits, and he was so excited. "I kept practicing Raunchy, you guys! It'll be great!" The rest looked irritated, he'd been bugging them about it all day. They were finally on the stage, and Paul was almost bouncing with excitement.
"This is our new member of The Quarrymen, Paul McCartney!" John announced. So nice, Paul thought. He even introduced me. I'm a little nervous though...
Suddenly, they gave him his cue for Raunchy, and missed it. He started to play a wrong note, then all of them were wrong. Everyone stared at him. Paul looked really embarrassed and hid behind Colin and Len. John just stared.
I've really done it now...he's so mad, he'll kick me out for sure...
But that wasn't what happened at all. They all waited for him to yell, but instead he chuckled softly, then it turned into full-blown laughter. Paul looked really sad, but it changed to confusion quickly. Then he decided John's laugh was the cutest thing he'd ever heard. I hope I hear it more.

Paul sighed as they finally finish recording their first album Please Please Me for the day. There was still a long way to go, but poor John lost his voice after doing Twist and Shout, so he went to check on him. It was funny, he never really saw them getting as far as they had.
"How are you feeling?" He asked his crush of now five years. John shook his head, indicating not so well. "I'll get you some more cough drops and milk, okay?" He went and got them, suddenly remembering his first performance. "Hey, John? Do you remember the first time I played in The Quarrymen?" He nodded. "And I messed up badly and you laughed until you almost pissed yourself?" Another nod with a smile.
"You can't even laugh right now...I miss it," Paul whispered. John reached out and grabbed his hand, surprising him. "J-John?" He just smiled and pulled him closer, kissing his forehead. He could almost hear him saying "I'm alright Paulie, you idiot." He covered his glowing face and freaked out, squeaking "Oh my god he fucking kissed me oh my god! Yesssss!" He felt like he could say or do anything. "John, I loved you since the day we met! Oh my god!" He ran out screaming.
John just rolled his eyes and smiled.
