Remember Me

a/n: Okay, don't get me wrong, I love Firestar but he's so old! Sorry, but his time is up. So, just want to clear that up. This is a little one-shot I did, with a few variations from the series. And that reminds me...

Disclaimer: I'm honored you think I own Warriors!

Firestar struggled to look up at all the faces around him, the ones he would be leaving soon.

"Don't Firestar.", Brambleclaw choked. "Don't make it come faster." Firestar tried to speak, but his words were painful and raspy. He couldn't let his clan see him leave like that. Instead, he tried to express how he felt through a look to each and every one of them in his den.

Slowly he met the eyes of every cat he had come to know and love. Each reflected the pain in their eyes.

Finally, he looked at Graystripe. Memories rushed through his head, as the pain from the gash on his stomach threatened to engulf him.

Rusty sat on the fence, staring into the unknown. He felt the forest air luring him into the trees, as he streched forward and imagined life outside the house. He stretched until the tip of his paw was almost touching the nearest leaf belonging to a tree on the outskirts of the forest. Without another thought, he leapt down from the fence and left to explore the forest from his dreams.

-

"Say, you fight pretty good for a tame kitty!", the tom said. Rusty looked at him in amazement. wasn't this the same young cat who was just trying to rip him to shreds? The tom stopped licking his paw and looked Rusty directly in the eye. Thus, the first bonds of friendship was born.

-

Firepaw and Graypaw fought side-by-side against Brokenstar and his rouges, defending everything ever known to them. Firepaw felt a new surge of energy as he and Graystripe chased off yet again another rouge. Now for Brokenstar.

-

"Silverstream!", Graystripe cried into the night. "Please", he moaned. "Save her." Fireheart could say nothing but, "I'm sorry, Graystripe. She's gone." "But I loved her."

-

"Firepaw!" Bluestar screamed "Help me!" "I'm coming Bluestar, hold on!", Fireheart cried back, stumbling down the side of the cliff. Had she forgotten his name? "Firepaw..." she mumbled as he reached pulled her out of the rushing torrent of water. "Firepaw..." "I'm right here, Bluestar. Just hang on a little longer! Cinderp-"

"Firepaw you are the fire that will save this clan. It is time for me to leave, time for someone new to take over. You will do well. I know you will." With this, her breating slowly subsided into nothing. Fireheart made a silent promise to do the best he could. He lay still, feeling the warmth leave Bluestar's body, until he felt soft fur touching his own. He looked up, startled to see his friends' yellow eyes looking sadly at him. "She loved you.", Graystripe simply said as he helped his friend carry their dead leaders' body back to the clan.

-

Firestar put all his energy into protecting his clan from the horror snarling at him. This was it, it could be the end of his life. But it didn't matter. With one last yowl, he jumed on Scourge, killing the only thing that could stop Fire. The Bloodclan cats, seeing their leader was dead, fled the area. Firestar, trembling, made his way to where his best friend and mate stood with Thunderclan's now dead deputy.

Firestar gasped. He looked directly into Graystripe's yellow eyes and said,

"Always... remember"

Graystripe made a promise. A silent promise to never forget the trails they had trekked together.

A tear slid down his cheek as he licked his friends' eyes closed for the last time.

a/n: Awww, I wasn't aiming to get that in depth. Sooo what do you think? Not my best, a bit rushed, but I love to get reviews! *wink wink*
