A/N: Okay, this story is based off the Anime series 'Chibi Vampire' by Yuna Kagesaki. I don't own anybody except for Dameon and Kohaku. Read and review people! :D
Chapter One
"It's that transfer student!" my sister, Karin, talked to me as she unwrapped the cloth to her lunch box.
"Karin, just try to calm down! Are you talking about Usui-kun?" I asked.
"Yeah… whenever I'm around him, my blood reacts oddly. I feel like I'm going to bleed!" Karin lowered her voice to a whisper.
Okay, before this goes any deeper, allow me to shed some light on the subject. See, my name is Dameon Maaka and I'm originally from Europe. However, our 'secret' was discovered and we had to move to Japan. My mother is Calera Marker and my father is Henry Marker. They both decided to keep their European names. My older sister's name is Karin Maaka and my little sister's name is Anju. Then, there is my older brother whose name is Ren.
Karin has a certain… condition in which her blood doesn't lower and she needs to feed, her blood actually increases. When they increase, she needs to vent them and she feeds the blood into her victim. But that doesn't make her a true vampire; which means that she cannot erase their memory! That is the main reason why our family calls her a failure as a vampire, especially Anju's doll, Boogie-kun, but I'll tell you more about that later.
I'm a full fledged vampire; however, it's alright for me to be outside when it's cloudy, raining, or snowy. Today, the clouds were black as coal, indicating a heavy storm.
"Maybe Ren was right!" I still had my voice in a whisper. "With the whole perforation in blood thing; Mom likes liars, Dad likes pride, Ren likes stress, I like darkness, and you like unhappiness! It totally makes sense! Unlike Maki, who keeps bringing up the couple thing."
"Er… yeah." Karin blushed.
"What's the matter, Karin? You don't really like Usui-kun that way, do you?" I smirked.
"Shut up, Dameon! I don't love him!" Karin screamed.
Everybody in the lunch room turned their heads in our direction. Karin and I smiled goofily and waved like morons. The mere mortals shrugged and continued back to their lunches. Imbeciles!
"Okay, well… if your blood reacts to Usui-kun, and unhappiness… Why would Kenta be unhappy?" I asked.
"From what I've heard, it's just him, his mom, and his brother at home. No papa! Imagine how hard that would be, Dame! I mean sure, Kenta works at Julian (popular diner) with me and Kohaku works at Kikai (shop that is practically made up of vampire worshippers) with you, but for some reason Fumio-san can't seem to find a job." Karin explained, stuffing another rice cake into her mouth.
"I see…" I allowed my voice to trail off in thought. "I thought we had it bad at home."
At our house, when you become an adult, you're expected to work and keep your own share. For example, Karin pays for the electricity bill (which really doesn't matter for us, but Karin needs the light because she wasn't born with night vision.) and I pay for food.
First of all, I know what you're thinking. "Oh, you're vampires! You drink blood for food!" Look, not true, okay? I'm not totally sure why we drink it, we just sort of do.
Brrriiiinnnggg! The school bell rang and class was dismissed.
Karin and I talked on the way home; but we had to be quiet because Usui-kun walks right behind us (his house is SO close to ours.)
It felt weird though.
Like being stalked.
