What had been the end of the sentence? He couldn't think of it. Her face, her beautiful features in so much pain floated before his eyes as he thought of her. What had been the end of the sentence? Her voice was strained in the pain she felt and yet she didn't look too worried as though she was not afraid to die. Yet something in her had told him that she was terrified. What could it have been? He had tried to block out the images of her but it wouldn't work. He could forget her voice.

What had been the end of the sentence? Out here on the lonely planet of Tatooine keeping an eye on Luke his mind was forever full off her death. It was hard to believe that she had died. She had always been so strong. She was a senator after all. Yet as he sat there he knew that she wasn't scared to die but something else had frightened her that day. Something deeper in her heart that he could reach. He had wanted to save her but he couldn't. He wanted to save her for Anakin's sake.

What had been the end of the sentence? He wanted to know what she had been trying to say to him. As he had held Leia and she had struggled to speak to him, struggled to tell him something before she died. She hadn't managed it though. She hadn't managed to tell him what she wanted to tell him. She had died before she could finish the sentence she had begun and now her words were eating him inside. He couldn't save her from dying.

What had been the end of the sentence? Would he only ever find out when he died? He had spent years on the empty planet the Force telling him what Darth Vader was doing in the galaxy. It was hard to think of Anakin as Vader. What had made him do it? He had no idea. Yet although he grieved for the loss of Anakin still her last words would not go from his thoughts. He couldn't stop listening o her words drifting through his head every moment of the day. Even in his subconciousness he could hear her words.

What had been the end of the sentence? Her words were haunting him. He could hear them no matter what he did even now sixteen years later with Luke grown up to a young teenager. Luke's uncle Owen had refused to allow Luke Anakin's old lightsaber believing that Luke would one day leave Tatooine to follow in the footsteps of Anakin and the almost extinct Jedi. Obi-Wan wondered how Leia was doing and he wondered if she had grown up to be like her mother. Padme had been a very strong woman even in death.

What had been the end of the sentence? He longed to know. What was it that Padme had tried to tell him? Would it have helped him perhaps save Anakin? He had left him for dead but he had returned now mostly machine. He wondered if Anakin knew that his two children had survived. He hoped not for Vader would use them as weapons for the Dark Side of the Force. Luke and Leia were the only hope for bringing balance to the Force. He longed to know what she had bee trying to tell him. What had it been?
