She could turn anything into gold.
She created masterpieces.
(wasn't hard for her because she was a masterpiece).
And one day she told me she was burning her paintings.
All of them, even my favorite (the one with the royal king and his water).
And I asked why?
And she said,
"I want my art to represent me."
And I said okay.
/
She came up to me and told me that she was leaving.
And I asked why?
And she said,
"I need to escape, maybe if I escape this place first I won't have to escape from myself."
And I said okay.
/
She called me one day
and she told me she was on a cliff
and that she felt free
and she wanted to feel free forever
and I knew.
And I said,
"Don't lose hope."
And she said,
"I can't lose something I never had in the first place."
And then I heard the shuffling of rocks
and the sound of the wind.
And I heard silence.
And that was when I knew
that she was free.
/
And that was the story of Maya Hart.
She could turn anything into gold.
And one day, she turned herself into gold.
Even though Maya would not appreciate me saying this at her funeral, let alone us having a funeral (she always said funerals were for the living),
I will provide you with some fun facts about gold.
Gold was thought to be delivered to the earth by asteroids.
She truly was too good for the earth.
Gold is the most malleable metal, which means it is the most capable of being shaped by force or pressure.
Gold dissolves by aqua regia, also called royal water or king's water. It is an orange-yellow liquid, similar to the color of fire.
