High and Dry
A/N: Hello lovely readers! I've been itching to write a Leah fic again, and I was finally struck with an idea. As per usual, it's angst. (Maybe a little bit of romance)?
Summary: What else could she expect? She was Leah Clearwater, after all-and Clearwaters never got their happy endings. Maybe Seth had a chance, but not her. Not ever her.
Disclaimer: No, I do not own Twilight or any of the character's mentioned.
Of course.
Of course the one time things are looking up for her-the one time the light at the end of the tunnel is actually in reach-the universe grabs her ankle and pulls her back to the start.
Actually, now that she's thought about it, the universe isn't to blame. No, the universe simply had to bend to the will of the ass who had created this problem.
Jacob Black, that is.
The name was enough to send her heart into over-drive and her hands into fists. It was amazing how she could feel such intense anger and adoration at once-how she could hate, yet love, a man so passionately.
But what did it matter? He was with that half-leech now and he was happy. That was supposed to be all the mattered the most, right?
Wrong.
In no way could Leah ever feel happy for those two. She had been tricked too many times-had her heart broken too many times. Jacob was supposed to be that saving grace of her pathetic love life. He was supposed to stay with her so they could be together! He wasn't supposed to fall in love with someone else!
It was the perfect plan. It was a plan that worked! But then that damned blood sucker just had to stroll in and pull the rug from under her feet- leaving her bitter and broken and just that much more defeated.
But how could anyone blame her? It was absolute hell running a race like this-one you could never, ever win no matter how hard you tried. The way she saw it, if you were doomed from the start, why attempt to get to the end? All it brought was disappointment and hurt…
The way she saw it, it was better to sit back and finish last than watch someone else win.
A/N: I don't like the ending very much, but this thing had been under construction for days and it was giving me unnecessary stress. Reviews are very much appreciated.
