Dreaming Of You
Aang sighed, his eyes downcast as the flames from the cooking fire were extinguished. Thoughts masqueraded through his head, to tear off their disguises and stare him straight in the face. Katara. That was practically all he could think of - her kind smile, her smooth skin, her beautiful, entrancing blue eyes...
"Is something wrong?"
Aang looked up at the woman he loved. Her eyes, blue as the sea, gazed down at him. Her dark face was framed by her brown hair, tied in its customary braid. She wore a blue kimono and her grandmother's necklace.
She was beautiful.
"Aang? Are you okay?"
Aang realized he had been staring, and blushed. "Umm, Katara? Could I...talk to you? Alone?"
She looked over to her brother. He was already in his sleeping bag, snoring loudly. She stifled a giggle. "Of course."
The two stood and walked into the woods until they reached the small river they had been using for fresh water. Aang sat, staring into the water, his breath slightly shaky. But he was determined to finally tell her. Katara hunched down next to him and laid a hand on his back.
"What's wrong?"
He took a deep breath and looked Katara in the eyes. He opened his mouth, and was silent for a second before the words came out. "Katara, I like you. More than normal."
She drew back slightly. "What?"
His heart panged painfully at her reaction. His eyes returned to the water. "I love you." He took a shaky breath. "I, I can understand if you don't feel the same way, I'm younger than you, I don't belong to the Water Tribe, I..."
She moved his head to face her, and pressed her lips against him. His breath caught in his throat and he shut his eyes. She drew away smiling.
Aang jerked up. He looked around the quiet campsite. Momo looked up at him, and he realized that it had all been a dream. He heard a slight noise from behind him. "Aang? Are you okay?"
He turned around to face Katara. "Umm, Katara? Could I...talk to you? Alone?"
