In the middle of the night when most people were already asleep, there was a woman with a baby girl in her arms. The woman had a tired expression on her pale face.
"There's the woman known as Vanessa Vargas! She needs to be caught by Kraang. Kraang, make sure the one known as Vanessa Vargas do not run away with baby known as Isabella Vargas."
The woman narrowed her eyes before kicking the Kraang that came for her. "I will not let you have her!" She shouted while hugging her baby protectively. She's fighting with her all as much as she could muster. However, it was not a walk in the park to kick robot-alien's butt while carrying a baby, and fleeing all at the same time! It took a stake on her stamina and she's already on the losing side.
"Kraang needs the baby who is known as Isabella Vargas to make a successful plan!" The robot-alien knocked Vanessa down.
She couldn't do more beside protecting her baby by throwing her body on top of the baby. She took on many kicks from a Kraang. "Stop! Please!" Vanessa begged, starting to lose hope. She's already tired and her body already bearing a lot of scars. It hurts to even move a muscle.
'I'm sorry, sweetheart. I can't protect you…'
Tears fell from her eyes. She hugged her baby tight, trying to protect her from the Kraang's kick. She closed her eyes tightly and a single thought shot through her mind
'Please...help us!'
Suddenly, the kicks from Kraang were gone. Vanessa could hear the sound of someone fighting. Slowly, she opened her eyes and she saw a giant human-like rat punching and kicking the Kraang. Not far from him, there was a trolley with four human-like baby turtles.
"What the-?" There's only her, the infants, and the human-like rat. No sign of the Kraang anywhere.
"Can you stand up, ma'am?" The giant rat asked. He noticed she did not answer immediately. "Please don't be afraid, I promise you no harm." The giant rat continued.
Slowly, Vanessa tried to stand against the struggle of fatigue and pain. It was a little hard, but she did it. "Umm...thanks for helping my daughter and I." She said to the giant rat.
"You're welcome, but you should find a place to hide."
"Oh, I know somewhere that's hopefully safe. Please follow me-" Vanessa tried to walk by herself but the pain from her leg almost made her fall along with with her baby. Fortunately, the giant rat caught her by the arm before the fall could happen.
"You need first aid. Your injures are really bad." The giant rat then started to look for a first aid kit from his trolley after helping Vanessa sit down while at the same time keeping the turtles calm.
Thank goodness he had a first aid kit. He started to treat Vanessa's wounds. While she got her treatment, Vanessa put her head down and she hugged her baby tightly, afraid of losing her.
"Ma'am, I need to see your hand." Vanessa looked at the giant rat before slowly moving her baby to her left arm and pull her right arm out for him. The giant rat started to clean her wounds and seal it with bandages.
"I see your baby is alright. She's so calm." The rat said, breaking the atmosphere.
"Yeah...she's special. So, what's your name?" She needed to change the subject to break the atmosphere. "No offense, but I can't call you 'giant rat-man' in my head…" She muttered.
"None taken and I'm sorry. My name is Yoshi Hamato."
"Vanessa Vargas," She said next. "This is my daughter, Isabella."
"She's beautiful."
"Thank you." And then in came another silentness until Vanessa broke it. "Your name...you're not from around here, right?"
"Ah, yes. I'm from Japan and have just moved here about one month ago."
"I see. Are you...um, why are you like this? Did the Kraang make you and the turtles become this way?"
"Kraang?"
"The alien-robot that attacked...us."
"Yes. A week ago, when I was still human, I bought four baby turtles from a pet shop. When I went home, I bumped into a strange man on the street. I felt something was off about him, so I followed him until he stopped at an alley. I hid behind a wall and I saw them do some transaction with a man that looked like him. When I decided to go closer, I stepped on a rat's tail and made it squeak very loudly. The weird men found me and a fight broke out. Unfortunatelt, the that the man had in his arm fell and the contents were spilled all over me. It made me look like this, a mutant rat." Yoshi Hamato sighed heavily, remembering everything bad happening to him. He lost everything; his wife, his daughter, his clan, and even his identity as a human being.
"We should go now," Vanessa said. Hamato Yoshi agreed and he pushed the trolly before following Vanessa to somewhere safe.
Vanessa lead them to an empty warehouse. After she put the sleeping baby Isabella into her bed made up of a box and some thick fabric, she spread a blanket on the floor and let Hamato Yoshi and his mutant baby turtles to rest.
"It's been a long day…" Vanessa commented, joining the mutant family to get rest too.
"Indeed," Hamato Yoshi answered as he put the baby turtles in their own box. "Thank you for letting us stay here."
"No problem. We have the same problem at hand, it'd make sense to work together."
"If I may know, what does this Kraang want from you?" Listening to the question, Vanessa took a deep breath before answering it.
She told her story to him. Hamato Yoshi felt bad after hearing about it and he tried to cheer her up.
Day by day, Hamato Yoshi and Vanessa Vargas were getting closer and closer. They're working together, share bits and pieces of their past and comforting one another. Until one day, something bad happened.
The turtles and Isabella were playing together. Vanessa and Splinter were watching the children.
All of a sudden, the wall exploded and the Kraangs were coming for them.
"No!" Splinter shouted in shock.
In a rush of the moment, Vanessa took the turtles to their trolly as well as her baby. They then started to run away while fighting off the enemies at the same time. They kept running until they arrived at an abandoned subway station.
"Over here!" Vanessa shouted.
In panic, they ran for it and they entered the station. However, the trolly got stuck on the way to the stairs. Splinter panicked when he saw the Kraang were not far behind from them. Vanessa saw them too. "Splinter, take care of my baby!"
"Vanessa, wait!" Splinter watched as Vanessa jumped towards the Kraang.
Isabella began to cry in Splinter's hold. However, Splinter's worry turned into relief when he saw Vanessa was putting up a fight.
Splinter looked at the baby, "I didn't know your mother is good at martial arts. Interesting." He said while rocking the baby.
When he had the opportunity, he tried to pull the trolly. He took the children to a hiding place before he went back to help Vanessa. He needed to tell his sons something first, "My sons, please wait here and protect Isabella. I will help Vanessa fight the robot alien!"
He then took off and he made it back in time to kick the Kraang that was about to strike Vanessa from behind. What he didn't know, one of the Kraang found the hiding place for the children…
"Splinter! Where are the children? Where's my baby?" Vanessa asked.
"They are fine and safe. Do no worry, Vanessa."
Back at the hiding place, Isabella was lying inside the box with the turtles. Suddenly, the Kraang came to them.
"The one known as Isabella Vargas is in that square thing with the other things that Kraang do not know. Kraang, take Isabella Vargas from that place to the place where Kraang need Isabella Vargas to be."
The turtles felt scared when the Kraang came close to them. On instinct, they started to huddle close to one another and protect Isabella. Isabella began to cry out loudly, catching her mother's attention.
"Get away from them!" Vanessa ran as fast as she could and she performed a flying kick to the Kraang that was about to take her baby.
Some more of the Kraangs arrived but she managed to take them all down. Splinter joined her and fought the Kraangs too. However, it was becoming too much for them and it was tiring out Vanessa and Splinter.
"We can't go on like this…!" She mumbled. She stopped in her spot before she shouted to Splinter. "Splinter! You need to take the children away!"
"What?"
"I'll handle them!"
"Wha- Vanessa, no! What about Isabella?! She cannot lose you!" You are her mother! Her parent!"
"Not anymore…" Vanessa jumped to her crying baby and she hugged her one last time as she cried. "I love you, my baby. Isabella... I'm sorry I can't see you grow up anymore...please be a good girl with your new family around you…" She then put her baby back down after giving her one last kiss.
Vanessa jumped to the Kraangs, making this moment count for everything. "Take care of my baby," She whispered to Splinter before disappearing from his sight, taking the Kraang with her.
After that, Splinter never heard anything about her anymore...
