A/N: This was an actual problem in my College Algebra class today. One of the students started complaining that he couldn't do word problems, and this story was born. Enjoy!

Rachel's Car Rental Company charges $40 per day plus a one-time surcharge of $60. Rebecca's Car Rental Company charges $60 with no surcharge.
Chiro sat on his bed, math book open in front of him, pencil in hand, glaring at the text on the page.
A) After how many days will the cost of renting a car be the same for each company? B) How much will it cost to rent a car for that many days?
He let out a groan. He hated math, especially word problems.
Chiro spend a good twenty minutes staring at the page with a glossy look in his eyes. He was so engrossed in his boredom that he didn't hear his door open.
"Chiro, have you solved the last word problem yet?"
The blue-eyed leader freaked out and fell off of his bed onto his head. From his position, he could see the blue monkey of the HyperForce.
"Jeez Gibson! Don't startle me like that!" The boy growled, pulling himself up. Gibson just raised an eyebrow.
"Homework?"
Chiro groaned. "I can't figure it out. It makes no sense. I hate word problems!"
The monkey shook his head and sighed. He climbed up onto the human's bed and picked up the forgotten math book.
"Come here, Chiro. I will help you."
The monkey and the human sat side by side, slowly going through all of the homework together.
"So," Chiro said, returning to the last question. "A is three days, and B is $180?"
Gibson gave him a proud smile. "Yes Chiro. That is correct."
Chiro have the scientist a goofy grin. "Thanks Gibson! Maybe word problems aren't so bad after all!"
Gibson gave a little chuckle. Just wait until you start Calculus and Trigonometry.
