Part 1
One day there was a boy called Marley, he lives in a care home in L.A. because his mum and dad left him for 2 months when they went on holiday to France. Marley doesn't like it in the care home because he is the only boy there. Marley is 13 years old and is always grumpy.
Marley lives with 30 other girls and hates it. He stays in his room all day unless it is time for breakfast, lunch or dinner. He has been in the care home for 5 years and hasn't any friends. Everybody gets £1 a week as pocket money. Marley has saved up £240 but is never allowed out of the care home unless he is with Tilly ( the care worker) so he's never spent it.
Part 2
One night Marley had a brilliant idea, he thought it through for ages and decided to go for it the next day, so he went to sleep.
The next day arrived and Marley said to Tilly " Tilly? May I go meet one of my friends later from California?"
"No, sorry hun, we are not allowed to let people from the care home go anywhere alone, it's the rules! Sorry."
Marley didn't listen to Tilly, he packed a bag with clothes and his money and crept out of the house without anyone knowing, he caught a train to California and went to his mates house then...
