He didn't know how it had happened, his body fell to the ground as he quickly gathered his barrings and looked up to the blonde man in front of him. The one who prevented him from fulfilling Mother's legacy. He picked up his sword and ran at him, but began to fall over before he was even close to making an impact.
His blonde haired brother caught him, his hold was gentle which surprised him though his focus was on something more important.
He had failed. He had failed Mother. It was what he was born to do, to cause the destruction of the planet and he didn't even do that right!
He felt the rain, heard it hitting his leather uniform and he looked up. This rain didn't hurt him like the one before; the rain back in the church that stung him, even through his uniform. This was the same rain, he could tell though this time it didn't sting.
Now as the rain fell he felt himself become calm... even whole. The one thing he had searched for in his life he was now receiving in death.
'Kadaj?'
A sweet female voice spoke to him, startling him from his thoughts. He never noticed that his brother could hear the voice too, the way those blue mako eyes looked so sad at the young man in his arms.
Surely it couldn't be... It can't be her? Could it?
"Mother? Is that you?"
He hoped and wished for it to be so, that she was Mother, that she would forgive him for failing her.
'Everyone is waiting, if you're ready to go.'
She never answered him, but that was fine. She was Mother, the one he and his brother's had searched for and now she was extending a hand to him, to allow him to rejoin his brother's so that they could have a reunion of their own.
He let out a gasp, relieved that she didn't reject him. This was what he wanted, to be with his Mother and he extended his hand to her, grasping her offered hand to join her.
His body faded away from Cloud's hold, as he watched Kadaj join the lifestream.
XOXO
When he finally saw her he just stared. Of course he didn't know what Mother actually looked like, but he gathered that she would have to look similar to his brother and himself, silver hair at least instead of the brown hair that she had.
She smiled at him; "Kadaj,"
When she said his name though, he felt himself be at ease, calm and soothed. He couldn't be confused about something like that, she was Mother.
"It's all right, you don't need to fight any more," She assured him.
Didn't need to? He no longer had to fight for her cause? He could simply be?
"Shh," She pulled him down onto the lush grass that surrounded them, gently caressing his silver hair; "You're safe and you're brother's will be joining us soon,"
He looked at her with his green eyes, letting himself enjoy the moment with he, slowly placing his head onto her lap weary as to what her reaction would be, but assured the moment his head rested on her lap that she was fine with what he was doing, she continued to stroke his hair.
She smiled, noticing that his eyes were closing, that he was no longer the same as he was on the planet, he was at peace, whole, and when his brother's come along, they would go through the same transformation as well.
The world was safe once more, and although there were casualties, at least the three brother's had a second chance.
