It was Zuko's day off and two teenagers were lounging in Sokka's room in the Fire Lord's palace. "You know what, Zuko?" Sokka said while examining his Wolf Tail in the polished mirror, "I finally know what your problem is."
"I'm the Fire Lord and I don't have any problems!" Zuko shouted at Sokka, eyes blazing with fury. A large fireball singed a painting on the wall uncomfortably close to his head, but Sokka was unfazed.
"Your problem is that you're jealous of my Warrior's Wolf Tail. I mean, admit it!
You would love to have a short pony tail sticking out from the back of your head with the rest shaved."
Zuko looked at Sokka in utter disbelief, "You think anybody would want that stupid Wolf Tail when you could have—" here he pushed Sokka away from the mirror, twisting his hair with a few swift motions—"the one, and only, Fire Lord Topknot!" Zuko said triumphantly, turning his head for Sokka's benefit. Sokka rolled his eyes at the smug expression on his friend's face.
"Zuko, Zuko, don't you know that the ladies love strong, noble Wolf Tails more than pansy Granny Buns?" he said, patting his Wolf Tail.
Zuko's face turned red with anger as he shot back, "You dare suggest that girls like that sad looking tuft of hair you call a Wolf Tail, more than my very manly Topknot?" Flames flickered at his fingertips.
"As a matter of fact, I do," Sokka said, "Ask any girl you know."
"I challenge you to an Agni Kai! For the honor of the Topknot!"
"Earth to Fire Lord: I'm not a Firebender."
"Well…I wouldn't hurt you that much."
"Thanks, Zuko. You almost changed my mind there." Sokka leaned back in his chair, "I know! How about an old-fashioned Water Tribe boat race, for the honor of the Wolf Tail! It's a classic!"
Zuko appeared to consider the idea before saying, "I don't know how to steer one of those primitive things you call 'boats.'"
"Watch it, Zuko. Hey, how about we get our friends to judge who has the best hair? That way nobody dies, and the Wolf Tail's honor is saved. We'll call it: Wolf Tail vs. Granny Bun! It'll be all over the news."
Zuko granted Sokka one of his very, very rare smiles. Sokka didn't notice. "Agreed. We'll have the contest in two hours. That should give us enough time to, er, tell our friends."
Sokka eyed Zuko suspiciously, but nodded. The two warriors exited the room, each stopping to admire his hair in the mirror when he thought the other wasn't looking.
