Katniss, District 12 Female

Katniss had never told me where she had gotten the bread that day. At the moment, we didn't care where. The only thought that filled out heads was filling our stomachs. And no matter how many times I asked her afterwards, when I began to wonder, she would never answer my question with a straight answer. Just "a friend."

But I did have my suspicions. Whenever Peeta came to buy my goat cheeses I had set aside for the baker, he would always ask about Katniss. Whenever I saw him anywhere near her, he would always gaze longingly at her, almost as if he wished he could say something, but couldn't quite find the words or the courage to do so.

Whoever it was, I knew Katniss loved them. She never said it, but the rare times she mentioned the bread that saved our lives, she speaks with a tenderness I've seen few other times from her.
