So cold

So cold. . . That was what this planet of ice was. It chilled his bones and he knew that he was crazy for sticking with the rebels. Smelly was the fur of the beast he rode through the snow in search of his missing friend. Stupid kid, why was he risking his neck for the young rebel commander? Warm was the answer his heart gave, loyalty to a cherished friend. He scanned the stark white horizon through electrobinoculars, cursing his bond of friendship.

So cold. . . That was the feeling that gripped him when he found his friend face down in the snow. Sweet relief warmed his terrified heart when he turned the young man over and his desperate plea was answered with delirious ramblings. Disquieted was the long, sleepless night he spent watching over his injured friend.

So cold. . . That was the look in her brown eyes as he slyly called out her temper in the medical center. Her presence had burned itself into his very soul and he found that he did not want to escape the new feeling. His heart took an icy plunge into his stomach as he watched her kiss the young rebel hero. Cool was his expression, when she turned on her heel and left him behind to wonder.

So cold. . . That was the betrayal of a once loyal friend, reluctantly working for the Dark Lord. Fearful uncertainty was what he saw reflected in her misty eyes, now softened by her feelings for him. He kissed her lips again and tried to convey what he didn't have the words to say. Her desperate confession of love gave him the courage to remain strong as he was lowered into the carbon freezing pit.

So cold. . . That was the prison he was held in, endlessly searching the icy horizon of his hibernation dream for his missing friend.

"Damn it kid, where the hell are you?"
