A Small Death

By: Ashika
Summary:
100 word ficlet/drabbles.
AN:
I thought they were interesting. Perhaps I'll write more later. The sudden need to write ficlets was inspired by Scribbler. Go read her stuff. She's amazing. Please review.
Disclaimer:
I do not own Teen Titans.

Skin Deep
Anytime

As I look through your eyes I watch your reflection wince. You have dark circles under your eyes – ones that you aren't willing to let others see. You trace a hand across your face and your fingers glide across skin that is different from everyone else's.

You cock your head and consider your image. You spend more time doing this than you would like anyone to know and yet still less than others would think. You touch your likeness on the plain reflective surface and wish that you could see that opposite world. Alarms jerk you from this trance – run.

Superlative
Anytime

His mother always told he was going to be somebody.

She'd say, "You're gonna be somebody famous. I can sense these things." Then she'd beam a celebrity-worthy smile. He felt like a million bucks and he knew he couldn't let her down.

His father always told him to be confident.

He'd say, "Kid, there ain't nobody in this world who's as confident as he looks. It's all a balancin' act – you gotta be sure of yourself and look it, but too much and any old fool's gonna call your bluff."

After years of such parental advice: He was Johnny Rancid.

Wolf Eater
After Birthmark

Raven considers herself something of a lone wolf.

Yes, she knows. Contrary to the saying, wolves come in packs. And within this pack of wolves there is a hierarchy – a chain of command. She knows she is second in command, yet she also knows that she is not Alpha Female.

When wolves believe that one of the tribe is a traitor they reject that wolf. The wolf is left to die and is given no part of the hunt. That wolf is a lone wolf.

Raven finds herself wondering how long it will be before she is denied the hunt.

Cloud Nine
Anytime

Starfire walked through the mall of shopping. Or rather, she frolicked. Smiling, laughing, and giggling; she made her way along the linoleum-tiled walkways. It was scaring people.

Raven felt it was her civic duty to make her stop. So did the rest of the Titans.

And yet, none of them had the heart to bring her down. It wasn't like she didn't deserve to be happy. But to be quite so happy?

One by one, they opened their mouths to stop the happiness. One by one, they found themselves shot down by her reflective happy bubble.

Starfire smiled and laughed.

Wind Burned
Anytime

"Ouch!"

"I am most apologetic, Robin, but it is not the fault of mine."

"It is so."

"Stop pouting, Starfire is right. If you had been wearing your jacket this wouldn't have happened."

"But she was flying too fast!"

"Now look, you've upset Starfire."

"I am not upset."

"You just sniffled."

"I did not!"

"Whatever you say."

"I do say!"

"I refuse to repeat myself."

"Dudes, relax. Let's get back to Robin's wind burn...and how he totally screwed up!"

"Shut up."

"Sorry, Rob, it's true. You can't blame Star for your screw up."

"You don't need to rub it in."

AN: Well...I hope you enjoyed them, were surprised by some, and giggled at others. The first one (Skin Deep) is not assigned to any particular character. It could be any of them, even Robin. Take your pick.
