Hold on Love

"I will love you forever."

Those were her last words.

Of course, it's rather hard to love someone once they're dead, was the bitter thought that ran through his mind. Several bouquets of flowers were lying dead all over the floor, mainly the result of being cursed several times in the past three hours. Countless feathers from the carrier owls were thrown around, a remembrance of the various apologies which were, by the sight of it, not the least bit understanding in anyway.

Neither true sympathy, nor pity was any of the things that people expressed to him. Everyone had assumed already that his bitterness was the cause of her death.

No one knew how much she meant to him.

Another owl flew in the room. He glanced at the scroll tied around the large owl's leg. Ms. Hermione Granger, read the address. Snatching the letter and frightening the owl half to death, he threw it into the fire. As he watched the letter burn and tumble in the sickening flames the tears came again.

Not even a thousand points from Gryffindor could make this any bit better.

Footsteps approached slowly behind him.

"Severus," the voice softly said.

He turned, trying to hide the grief in his face.

Tears filled his eyes.

"Shh. I understand. Don't speak." The voice came again.

He lost it, burying himself in the headmaster's understanding arms.

End.

A/N: This was my first story, in general, so hopefully it's not too bad. I hope you enjoyed it.
