This is based around a meeting that the governor of then-Spanish New Orleans, Luis de Unzaga, had with two officers of the Continental Army sent by the General Charles Lee about supplies in 1776 to the Thirteen Colonies during the American Revolutionary War.

The room in which I currently was at was huge and luxurious. Expensive looking paintings hung from the walls, together with all kinds of beautiful decorations. Sunlight lit the room as it entered through the perfectly cleaned large windows of the room. The walls were painted with pure white, making the room seem bigger than what it really was. An abandoned box with Cuban tobacco sat at the end of a grand table visibly made out of top quality wood, although I wouldn't be able to say out of which. Numerous chairs made out of the same material and richly decorated surrounded it, sitting on a majestic carpet with diverse decorations. Two officers stood right beside me with nervous expressions, knowing how crucial what we had been sent here for was.

We had been sent here, to New Orleans, by General Charles Lee to request supplies from the New Orleans governor: Luis de Unzaga. The War of Independence was going on, and it was vital that we reached an agreement and that the Spanish agreed to assist us with supplies, especially with the much needed gunpowder. I knew that the very outcome of the War, our independence and freedom, depended on this. I knew this very well, and it made me feel determined to reach a beneficial agreement. Independence was essential, and this was a necessary step to take to ensure it.

Suddenly the wooden door that led to this room opened, and through it entered the old looking man who I recognised as the governor of New Orleans: Luis de Unzaga. Besides him was a younger man who I had met just a few times in the past: Antonio Fernandez Carriedo, or as he was widely known, Spain. He was dressed with his red military uniform, and had an amused expression on his face that immediately turned into a serious one as he spotted me and entered the room.

"Welcome, America, what brings you here?" The other nation immediately asked me with a polite tone of voice and a curious glint in his green eyes.

"We would like to request supplies to assist us against the British in the War" I immediately said after greeting the other nation, explaining as quickly as possible the motive of our visit.

The other nation grinned and looked at the governor and whispered something to him. I gulped nervously, not knowing what the other nation would respond. His relation with Britain had never been good and I knew this perfectly well, but…

The governor and the nation suddenly stopped talking between them and looked back at us. The old man gestured towards the table. "Please take a seat, gentlemen, we have several things to discuss" He said.

I grinned and went towards the table, feeling that I would get the help that I needed from Spain. I quickly sat on one of the numerous chairs, right in front of Spain and besides the two officers. The other nation smiled at me in a friendly way as the negotiations started. I returned the smile, knowing that I wouldn't regret this.
