This is something I wrote for lit. It was a competition to see who could make the best style piece, and I won so...

Deer In The Headlights

I was walking down the streets, and it was hot as blue blazes. This goddamn heat wouldn't let up. Those phonies on the news say that it's been some of the hottest days of the year. As I walked down the streets I started looking at the people around me. There was a little boy holding onto his mom's hand. Then right behind him was a married couple, or I'm guessing they're married by the way they look at each other, that were chatting about some movie they saw.

I remember seeing old Jane at the movies once. Now that I think about it that was probably the last time I saw her before yesterday. Yeah she was buying some milk and eggs in the grocery store. I thought about talking to her, but decided that I wasn't in the mood. She looked pretty fine that day too. She had her hair pulled away from her face, and she was wearing some shorts that showed off her terrific legs. She really was a pretty sight.

Anyways, I'm telling you about seeing Jane at the movies. So I was seeing a movie that all the guys at the private school had been raving about. It was the afternoon, and only a few people were there since it was Sunday. So I went in and waisted a few bucks on some crappy movie. I was getting out of the theater that I saw her. She was standing near a bench with some popcorn in her hands. She was just standing there looking around. I was about to come up to her when a fat sausage-like finger planted itself on her shoulder. She tensed up and looked towards the owner of the hand. I remember getting angry at the man for touching her. It wasn't inappropriately, but it still bugged the hell out of me. I remember those sausage fingers sliding over to her neck in that same way people do when they want something. Jane looked like a goddamn deer standing there. She was shaking and her eyes had gotten wide. I wanted to tell that booze hound to get his stinking hands off of her. Then Jane did the unexpected. She pushed his hand off with a cool composure, and just walked into theater. When I left the only thing I could think of was that booze hounds goddamn fingers on her pale skin, and her face looking like a deer in the headlights.
