A/N: I got inspiration for this from the song "I'm not that girl" from Wicked. I thought the the song fitted well with Eponine's storyline

Disclaimer: Don't own anything that you recognise from either musical :)

Another night alone, the wind blew a chill through the glass-less window of the abandoned house Eponine called home. She shivered, rolling over so her back was to the wind. She snuggled under he thin blanket and once again to dream herself to sleep.

Every night, she created a life for herself in her head, a life she would unfortunately never lead. She thought of what her life would be like if she had had loving, nurturing parents, instead of the Thénardier's , who cared about nothing only money. She pondered of what it would have been like of Monsieur Le Maire had taken her instead of Cosette. Sometimes her thoughts went darker and she worrier of how she may have to go to the docks to earn a living if things got really bad.

Tonight was no different she had let her thoughts run wild, but there was a different theme to them. Over the past few months, 'ponine had become lonely, and longed with all her heart to have some one to love, and to be loved in return. That was what she wanted most in the world.

She hugged her knees and tucked them right up under he chin in attempt to stay warm. It wasn't like she didn't have her eye on someone, she knew exactly who's arms she wanted around as she fell asleep each night, and that was Marius. Things weren't exactly simple there.

Marius saw Eponine as a friend, a companion, nothing more, and he had his sights set on Cosette. She had grown up from the ragedy little orphan that she knew as a child to a beautiful young women, with blonde hair and the most expensive gowns that her father-figure had bought her.

Anyone could see that he would pick Cossette over her any day, and she excepted that, but it dodnt stop her from dreaming. "Here I am again, alone pretending he,s beside me" she thought to herself as she finally drifted off.

"Gold hair with a gentle curl, thats the girl he chose, and heaven knows, Im not that girl"
