AN: Hello. Some of you may be wondering how I can post this, if you've been reading my story for twilight. The answer is simple really. My aunt and uncle had a power failure, so I couldn't go over their house, which sucks. I will update choices tomorrow. anyway, this is based on the book version, seeing as I never saw the movie. This is a bit before Jess showed May Belle Terabithia. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: as if. P.s I do not own the song being used in this fic either.
Jess Aarons sat alone in the middle of what used to be Terabithia. Now that Leslie was gone, it
was simply a cruel reminder of the friendship he had lost. Silently a tear made it's way down his
cheek. The wind blew softly, but gradually became stronger. In the wind, Jess heard a voice which
grew louder. It sounded like someone was singing. And rather beautifully. Actually, it sounded
like... Jess turned around and rubbed his eyes. "Leslie?" Leslie looked just the same, which
confused Jess Aarons. He always thought angels wore white and had halos. But, maybe Leslie was
an unusual type of angel. She had certainly been an unusual girl. It took a moment for Jess to
recognize the song, but he remembered Miss Edmunds had sung it once.
"I will remember you. Will you remember me? Don't let your life pass you by. Weep not for the
memories.Leslie had the most wonderful voice and jess was glad to hear it again. "Leslie! Why
did you have to go and jump! You should've waited for me..." Jess was cut off. "Jess Aarons! I
didn't wait and that's the cold hard truth. I was talking to some of the Terabithians, and they say
you've forgotten about them." Jess looked down. "Leslie, Terabithia ain't real. It's all a game. A
stupid game that got you killed." Leslie looked hurt and Jess felt ashamed, as he looked at the
forest floor. "The Jess I knew would've never said a thing like that." Angrily, Jess spat "The Jess
you knew left when you did. How could you leave Leslie? Teribithia ain't the same without you. It
just ain't real no more." Leslie raised her voice so the level matched Jess'. "But don't you see?
That's just it. You can't let the memory of Teribithia die out, you just can't. I think that your just
afraid." Jess' head snapped up and Leslie went right on. "That's right. Your afraid to rule Teribithia
on your own." realizing the truth in Leslie's words, but not wanting to admit it, Jess mumbled "A
kingdom ain't a kingdom without a Queen." Leslie smiled. "Well then, guess you got to find yourself
a queen now don't you?" Tentatively, Jess met Leslie's kind and encouraging smile with one of his
own. "Well, as former Queen, who do you suggest take your place?" "Well, if you really want to
replace me.." Leslie teased. Jess blushed. "I didn't mean it like that."Leslie smiled even more
broadly, then said "How about May Belle?" Jess stared at her. "But she's such a baby." Leslie
shrugged. "I pick May Belle." jess sighed and said, "Alright May Belle it is. But where are you
gonna be?" "Where I can watch over you, May Belle, and all the Terabithians." As Leslie began to
fade, Jess knew it was time for her to leave, but he didn't want her to go just yet. Even still Leslie
turned to walk away, back to wherever angels came from. "Goodbye." he whispered so softly, he
was sure she didn't hear him. She looked over her shoulder and waved though, and Jess knew it
would be alright. Leslie's voice carried in the wind as beautiful as ever.
"I will remember you. Will you remember me? Don't let your life, pass you by. Weep not for the
memories.
