Spiders. Ewww. I made this one-shot in honor of Annabeth's fear, 'cause I think she's right to be afraid of them. .Gross. Oh well, bring on the disclaimer:

Phobia

A Phobia is something that you hardly ever got rid of.

For Annabeth, it was impossible to let go of her fear of spiders.

She remembered being alone, with people, in her house, in a park… it didn't matter, all that did was that, if there was any spider, she would Freak. Out.

She had had bad times with the little things, but the worst of them was surely one she could recall perfectly…

Annabeth was sitting on her bed, studying blueprints for the Argo II, when something besides her moved.

She practically jumped, then scowled. Surely it was nothing, not worth her time, not when she could spend it looking for Percy.

Then she saw a black spot on her bed, and she screamed as high as you could get.

"SPIDER, SPIDER, SPIDER!"

All of her cabin mates had gone to train, so Annabeth was alone with…the thing.

Okay Annabeth, think. What do you do when there's a spider?

Aha!

"Percy!" she yelled, only to be reminded that he wasn´t there.

Dread settled over her, and she fought back a sob. He wasn't going to help her now.

Then, to her horror, the spider came closer to her, as if trying to comfort her.

Oh, she thought, how strange.

But then, instead of being Spidy the friendly Spider, the spider bit her.

She beated a world record with a scream, and she kicked the spider away.

Malcolm entered the cabin, and when he saw the spider, he squeaked like a mouse.

"Spi-spi-spider!"

Annabeth nodded "It bit me!"

Malcolm was horrified "It bit you?"

Annabeth nodded again, and Malcolm killed it without looking, completely grossed out.

Malcolm got her to come down, and then carried her to the nearest Apollo kid.

It had been a bad day, but mostly because Annabeth had realized just how much she relied on Percy, how much she needed him.

Now, she thought as she saw Percy laughing at Leo's joke, she could take on an army of spiders. Just for him.

Because with some fears, we need help so that we can beat them
