"Everybody learns from disaster."

Their relationship was a dead end street. They continued on down it, but they knew where it was going- nowhere. That road, though, had room to grow. They just needed a construction worker to lead them on.

And there he was, "Guys," Adam begged, "stop."

They looked up in annoyance, "This isn't your discussion, Adam." Eli growled. Clare shot Adam a distraught look before turning back.

"Let's talk- please." Her voice was rough from crying.

"Why? We're broken up, remember?" Eli snapped.

Adam finally took action. He pulled Clare closer to him to hush her sobs, "Eli, stop. She's upset. And- truthfully- she has a perfectly good reason to be upset."

The air thickened into a murky silence. When Eli didn't try to interrupt his though process, Adam began again, "You suffocated her until she couldn't take it anymore. Eli, you're my best friend, but even I couldn't take it. And then you go shooting a picture of your ex-girlfriend. And then, oh God, when you went off in Morty all suicidal. You're lucky she's here."

He stopped. Eli reached forward to grasp Adam's shoulder tenderly, but his fingers recoiled when he heard a soft whimper, "Clare…"

"Just don't." She said. Her face pushed to Adam's clothed shoulder to hide her moist cheeks.

It was then that they all took in their surroundings. Eli's back was to Morty, his arm in a white sling. Clare and Adam stood together mere inches from him. From the corner of his eye, Adam could see CeCe's hidden face watching eerily from the doorway.

They'd tried the whole 'forgive and forget' friendship deal, but it was falling apart at the seems.

"Look, this is stupid," Adam whispered, "you love each other. It's obvious that won't change. Just- just don't forget that. Even if you aren't ready to be together again." His final comment was directed towards the blubbering girl on his shoulder.

"I," Clare looked up, "I don't know if I ever will be, but our friendship- what we had before- it was just as important to me as when we were dating."

Eli opened his non-broken arm towards her, and she shuffled towards him silently, "Ditto."

Adam smiled, turning towards the cracked door. A single thumbs up towards CeCe let her know all was well again.

Maybe Adam wasn't a miracle worker, but he was their construction worker. He was paving a new street for them to travel down.

Okay, this is just what I wish would happen to their relationship afterwards. You know, falls apart, Eli's screws it up more, and then they make their way back up to friendship pole (you know, until they get back together)

I hope the old Eli comes back. He is missed :/
