Sand

Sora sprawled out on his stomach, letting his white t-shirt bunch up on his chest to reveal his belly to the cool, white sand beneath him. The sand was always pleasantly chilly after the sun sank below the watery horizon. All alone, the slight nip smothered loneliness into Sora's heart. That was pleasant as it would get without someone to curl up next to.

"What was the point of looking for them if they were just going to move away?" The sand muffled Sora's melancholy. He, of course, was referring to Riku and Kairi. Kairi's parents were going broke, and so they moved further inland looking for work, tearing Kairi once again from Sora's life. As for Riku...

Riku visited sometimes.

But not often.

Sora had sent him a letter not long ago. Stowing it into a glass bottle and tossing it out over the sea, it had disappeared amid the waves within a few hours. Now only if it would actually find Riku for Sora. Oh what a day that would be.

Closing his eyes, Sora blew out a heavy, tired sigh. The sand swirled in front of his nostrils.
