Lightning-Dono: I haven't been on in ages! Wow, now that it's summer break, I had better get writing. Just a little drabble.

Love That Never Was
Takuto x Meroko

--

Takuto found it funny.

He found it funny how much it hurt when Meroko turned her head away in contempt, chased after her blonde warrior, and left him alone with his new lover. They said that once you found love, the pain would go away. He had died internally time and time again whenever he saw Mitsuki in pain from her combative illness; at times he wondered what it would be like to fall into the hands of the netherworld for eternity for her to reap a bit of happiness.

Yet it seemed he never had to, because she hid her sadness from him so well. Whenever he cast her a concerned stare, she would retaliate with a radiant smile that melted his insides. But this wasn't enough to stave off bitter fruit that spoiled his loving appetite. He longed for someone to want him the same way he desired for Mitsuki. His emotions were in constant turmoil when it came to the subject of love, but one was very clear to all those who could divine emotions: he was experiencing a sort of lust.

He, being the obstinate fool he considered himself to be, perceived this emotion as utter selfishness.

This was by no means reasonable, he berated himself mentally.

Of course…

It was never reasonable to yearn for a love that never was.
