Okay! So I take Latin class (yes, i was originally drawn into it by Harry Potter and only convinced my mom to let me take it by bringing up the SAT). And we are reading these poems by the famous poet Catallus. Now Catallus was in love with a woman whom he calls Lesbia, but Lesbia was already married. She had an affair with Catallus and many other men simultaneously. Catallus was not always trusting of Lesbia and he wrote many love/hate poems about her. They really reminded me of James and Lily and inspired me to edit them a bit to fit one of our favorite love stories! I have about 9 right now and I will be posting 2 a night for the moment. they will all be short, but i hope you like it!

(All credit for poetry goes to Catallus, except I don't think he'll sue me because he's dead. The wonderful James and Lily are provided by J.K. Rowling. I am just here to bring them together. This applies for all chapters of course)

Catullus 51

My name for it: Lucky

Info: this was actually a poem by Sappho written to another woman originally and then Catullus translated it into Latin to voice his love for Lesbia. Now i have it here for Lily and James! Pretty much, James is watching Lily and is jealous of her potions partner.

Your potions partner, it seems to me, is very lucky.

It is as if he has swallowed endless bottles of felix felicis.

He gets to sit next to you, constantly,

Watching you concentrate and add ingredients.

It makes my potion seem not quite the time.

For Lily, as soon as I see you, nothing remains:

My tongue goes numb, blood rushes from my head, my ears ring, and my eyes are covered with twin night.

Godric, I need a new hobby.
