Okay, like I've said in my other two 'stories' that deal with these themes, I'm trying to do all 100 of them, but I knew I wouldn't be able to do all of them in just one genre. So, for a more detailed explanation of where I got this list of topics, go to my Naruto version. (Shameless plug? I think so!) Other than that, enjoy topic #18 - Best Friend.

Disclaimer: I do not own Zelda. But Link would look real nice in my living room.

oooooooooooo

You know… he really is quite impressive.

That form. When I first saw it, I thought of how pathetic he looked. Not because of him, exactly, but because of his predicament. How could such a powerful seeming creature be caged so easily? I mean, really! The savior of our worlds is trapped in a dungeon by one little chain? It doesn't look very good for the future, ne?

Well, we did manage to get out of there easily enough, I guess. And I'm beginning to think that he would've gotten out eventually, even without my help. Though, maybe I give him too much credit.

He has come along quite well, though. I think he might have just been confused and scared. Yet to say that now… It almost seems impossible to say he's afraid of anything. I mean, after all we've faced. He's never flinched. He really took up the mantle he was given, and hasn't looked back. I'd almost say I'm proud of him. But that'd be way too sentimental for me.

I still can't believe he lets me get away with what I did next. I mean, really! What would you do if somebody just plopped down on your back for a ride? After that first knee-jerk snap he just let me sit up there. … His fur was so soft. And I could feel all the muscles in his back flex as he ran, or even just walked. It was so fluid, like floating. … I'm glad. He let me stay, even if I did treat him like a horse. … A sled dog would be more accurate, I guess. (Giggle.)

Heh. He'd be so embarrassed if I ever told anyone. When he's in that form, he twitches in his sleep, just like a real dog. It's so cute. The Hero, curled up in a little ball, dreaming of chasing rabbits or some such. He's very warm, too. If it weren't for him, I think I would have frozen that first night on the mountain. He curled around me and put his tail over me like a big blanket. … I've never felt so warm as I did huddled in that little cave.

I think that's when I realized it. He's wonderful. It doesn't matter where he is, what he is, or who he's with, he's going to do his best to make sure everyone is safe and happy. He's my best friend. He's the world's best friend. Heh. In that form… He's man's best friend.

I'm gonna tease him with that for a very long time.
