Right, so my "Things that annoy me" series appears to have spread into other Fandoms. Say hello to "Things that annoy me - Torchwood edition".
What annoys me with Torchwood is that everyone seems to think that Ianto would be the one to get pregnant one in the first episode Jack quite clearly says "Well at least I won't get pregnant. Never doing that again." Captain Jack Harkness can get pregnant. It is stated in canon... so why make the 21st century man the one to get pregnant when it's the 51st century man that can? Rant over, enjoy its story form :)
"Hey Ianto," Jack said as he walked up to the welshman as he was handing out the coffee to the team.
"Yes, Jack?" Ianto replied as he handed Jack his coffee.
"I'm pregnant," Jack said. Ianto dropped the empty tray. The silence that followed the clatter of it hitting the floor seemed deafening.
"You're-" Ianto said, drawing the word out. "Pregnant?" The word tasted funny in his mouth. How could Jack be pregnant.
"Yep," Jack said, laughing. "You don't seem happy about that." Jack's laughter died down as he became worried by Ianto's reaction.
"I'm just confused is all," Ianto said. "How are you pregnant?"
Understanding dawned on Jack's face. "Right, 21st century, men can't do that."
"So this is a 51st century thing then?" Ianto asked. "Like your pheromones?"
"Well this is a more 49th century thing," Jack said. "But I take it your question was more it's from the future, right?" Ianto nodded. "In that case, yes."
"So this isn't some weird alien thing?" Gwen asked.
"No," Jack said, his laughter back in his voice. "This is all me and Ianto."
Ianto's confusion had turned into gentle anger, or annoyance. "Jack, did you have to announce this to me in front of everyone?"
"Yep," Jack said. "Oh and get your stopwatch." With that Jack headed up to his office.
