There's someone else
Sigh and the shot glass goes flying across the room. "I'm not drunk."
A stumble and a spill. "I'm sure you aren't."
"You're real cute y'know?" Giggles and high-pitched squeals erupt.
Scratching his head. "Sure I am"
Hands over her heart. "You are. You really are."
Silence.
Pouting. "What? No thanking. You're not very polite."
Pause. "You're not very sober."
Toothy grin. "I love you. Like really love you."
Sad smile. "No you don't. You're drunk. You don't know what you're saying and besides – you're the one that said it could have never worked between us."
Pouting again. "You're no fun."
Deciding. "I s'pose not. Can't help that though, doesn't really matter to me either way really."
Silence.
She shifted in her seat beside the fireplace, adjusting her crimson fishnet top completely unashamed of the fact that her bare skin peeked from everywhere and he was right there…come to think of it there was so many other people on the other side of the wall.
Sighing. "I don't think I dolove you anymore. You were probably right I couldn't love you…not even if I tried. But then again, you're incapable of being loved Randy. It doesn't matter how bad you want it it'll never happen." Sardonic smile.
Raised eyebrow. "You say that but maybe you were just too scared to love me 'cos you would get too close and attached. You're the one that wouldn't love." Whispering. "You're the one that couldn't even try."
Laughing. "You're so stupid." Flick of long hair. "You're not as smart as I thought you were young Randall…if you were that smart – you would have known that it was gonna end like this. Foolish of you to think that it would have ended any other way." Twirling her hair. "You're stupid to have trusted me. But then again - you fell in love with me, should I have expected anything else from you? You were too young Randy, you didn't understand the way things worked back then, that still hasn't changed but you're more aware of the world - more wary of everything."
Humorless chuckle. "You're right, Red. It was stupid of me. You could have never loved me without restraints the way that I loved you – the way I have always continued to love you. Guess I'm just foolishly in love."
Dry laugh. "Never thought you could be so bitter so young. Guess that theory went down the drain. But Randy - you never loved me, i know that you think you so or thought you did... whatever.. but you didn't, so just.. just forget about it Randy." Giggles.
Head cocked. "You really have to stop using that stoner logic of yours; if you put down that bottle for once then maybe you would be able to see the truth."
Brushing imaginary dust off her clothes. "I came here for a reason." Statement.
Shoulders shrugged. "So?"
Hazel eyes prepared themselves for his response. "There's someone else."
In a fluent movement she stood and tried to walk as gracefully as she could in her drunken state. The knob turned and he stood there. Unusually tidy and hatless. Her hand found his and together they walked away.
Blue eyes filled with tears and heart filled with "never again"'s as he remembered it as the moment his heart stopped beating. He would remember this day forever as the day that there was someone else to love her.
Thoughtlessness…"Goodbye heart…there's someone else…" and he put the gun to his heart, but it was too late, he was already dead
