She kept running, knowing that if she stopped they would surely kill her; without a second thought. Her long, brown curly hair flying in all directions and her knee length, flowing skirt billowing in the wind. A loud, thundering smash echoed from behind her. Seconds later the crashing sound was followed by an earth trembling fall. She fell to her knees, rolling as she hit the ground. She turned around and only meters from her feet was the face of a giant; the giant that had been chasing her.
"Who...How... Wha..?" She said, stumbling over her words.
She slowly rose to her feet, brushing the dirt and grass stains off of her clothing. Looking extremely confused she neared the creature, studying it. However, before she had the chance to examine the giant, someone began yelling out a name. "Belle! Belle! Are you here?"
She didn't know what to say. Still confused she decided to yell out in return. "I don't know who Belle is, but I'm here; Lacey… that's my name!"
Lacey suddenly heard rushing footsteps coming her way; although, he seemed to walk with a limp. One leg hit the ground harder than the other. Moments later a rugged man, with greying hair, dark eyes, a black suite, and an odd looking cane appeared from behind the body of the giant. "Belle! It's you!" He said.
Without warning he had Lacey in a vice like hug, whispering loving things into her ear. Surprisingly flustered, Lacey pulled herself out of the man's grip pushing him away. "Excuse me! My name is NOT Belle". She said with her quite English accent. "I don't know who you are but I am not who you are looking for! Look, I'm very grateful that you saved me; however, I would really appreciate it if you called me by my name".
"Excuse me…?" Rumplestiltskin asked.
"Clearly you're not understanding me. I. am. Not. Belle." She spoke slowly. "My name is Lacey. It's nice to meet you…"
"Mr. Gold". He said in confusion.
"Well… Mr. Gold, what do you presume we do with… this?" Belle said pointing at the Giant.
Without saying a single word Rumplestiltskin flourished his hand in the direction of the giant. A large purple cloud swirled around the giant, when it finally dissipated into the air a tiny version of the giant laid in its place. Lacey immediately began stumbling backwards, tripping over her own feet. Thrown off by fear and confusion Belle tripped herself up and fell hard on the ground. Rumplestiltskin slowly began walking over to her aid, however, the moment he tried to assist her she began to panic and run away.
"M…M…Mr. Gold. Stay away from me! Please!"
"Dearie, please stop running away from me! I can explain everything to you! Please!"
"No! You are definitely not who I thought you were! You're insane to think that I would let you help me after what you just did!"
Rumplestiltskin stopped in his tracks. His face went completely emotionless, as he attempted to register what she had just spoken. "I… I… just want to help you… Lacey." He said with a great deal of difficulty.
"Well maybe I don't need your help. Did you ever think that that may be the case?"
He stopped moving completely. On the verge of tears, Rumplestiltskin threw his hand into the air. "Dearie… I will be there if you need me. All you will ever have to do is call my name, and I will be by your side". Without a second to spare, Rumplestiltskin flourished his hand once again and moments later he disappeared.
The giant began to wake up.
