Disclaimer- I don't own Logan, Jean Grey, or any of the X-Men. They belong to Marvel, Stan Lee, and the movie people.

Disclaimer 2- I don't own Candle in the Wind either. Unfortunately that piece of genius belongs to Elton John and his lyricist whose name I don't remember at the moment.

A/N: Okay, this is my first attempt at a songfic. It is supposed to be after the Phoenix Force commits suicide, but everyone thinks it is Jean that is dead. I based it on Candle in the Wind by Elton John (the first one, ya know the one about Marilyn Monroe, not Princess Diana). Logan is expressing his true feelings for Jean because he thinks he'll never see her again. He also is talking about how she had to choose between Scott and him.

Wolverine's Song

Goodbye my sweet Jean,

Though I hardly knew you at all.

To protect those around you,

You took one last fall.

No one ever trusted you,

Because of you could go through their brain.

They forced you into hiding,

You had to change your name.

And it seems to me you lived your life,

Like a candle in the wind.

Never knowing which of us to turn to,

When the Sentinels set in.

And I would've like to know you better,

But you were just a kid,

Your candle burned out long before,

My love for you ever did.

Loneliness was tough,

The toughest mission you ever played.

Xavier made you a super hero,

With your life you paid.

I still have love for you,

Even though you're gone.

I know it's stupid,

But my heart says you go on.

And it seems to me you lived your life,

Like a candle in the wind.

Never knowing which of us to turn to,

When the Sentinels set in.

And I would've like to know you better,

But you were just a kid.

Your candle burned out long before,

My love for you ever did.

Goodbye my sweet Jean,

Though I hardly knew you at all.

To protect those around you,

You took one last fall.

Goodbye from the man who watched you from the sidelines,

Before you left this world.

From the man who saw you more than a telepath,

More than Marvel Girl.

And it seems to me you lived your life,

Like a candle in the wind.

Never knowing which of us to turn to,

When the Sentinels set in.

And I would've like to know you better,

But you were just a kid.

Your candle burned out long before,

My love for you ever did.

Your candle burned out long before,

My love for you ever did.
