The last hope
Chapter 1

Hey everybody...this is a story I wrote today in english. I was doing a past paper and this is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy :D and please review.

The water looked deep and inviting. If she stepped in now all of her problems would be over, but she had to trust herself not to try and kill herself. Life had been hard and she thought nobody had cared...she was wrong. There was one person who had been there all this time he just didn't know how to help, but this time she went too far. This time he had to help her. He couldn't lose her.

She wasn't in the right clothes for a river trip on a cold, dark November morning. She should have been wrapped up all nice and warm but the only items of clothing she was wearing was her underwear and a white, flowy dress. She could feel a gentle breeze on her legs and the hard rock underneath her feet. Her car was abandoned on the roadside and for anybody passing it would have looked like the driver of the vehicle had broken down and the had went to get help. Nobody would have suspected that the driver of the vehicle was so depressed and gone to drown themself in the river...except her best friend.

As she took her first steps into the river, the water lapping around her ankles. With her silky, short brown hair and her white knee-length she looked like a beautiful brunette angel who had fallen to earth. She was standing there her dress moving slightly in the breeze, she could hear a shout from behind her, it was her best friend coming to save her. She was thankful but this time she didn't want to be saved.

She steadly walked in and as she got deeper and deeper into the river, the water making her feel safe and filling her with a power no-one else could, he got closer and closer. She had been in the water at least 15 seconds and from his first aid training he knew that in freezing cold water it can only take 2 minutes for a human to die from hypothermia, he knew that he had to get her out and quickly.

He was at the riverbank in his boxers, his clothes that he had been wearing were now strewn all over the countryside. He dived in, the mucky water made it hard to see but in front of him he could make out her brunette hair and white dress. He could tell that she wasn't dead...yet. She tried to swim away but she was no match for a guy that can swim 10 laps in under 8 minutes. He swam up behind her and put his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. She was kicking and punching him. She didn't want to be saved but she was happy that her best friend cared about her so much, he could make everything better and that's what he was going to try and do.
