*I do not own Doctor Who*
I was sitting flop sided on one of the seat like things around the control panels in the heart of the Tardis. I'm messing with this sort of metal ball thing, probably alien. The Doctor doing some form of working on the Tardis engine or something.
"Do you notice the little things?" I asked him, breaking the sort of muttering he was doing that I hadn't paid any attention to.
"Little things?" He asked
"Yeah, you know the little things. Like the way the sun hits your skin to make a sort of angelic glow. Or how good you feel when lying wrapped up in the sheets in your bed. Feeling warm and safe. Or maybe the way rain drops splatter on the windshield of the car and roll to the sides from the wind."
He stopped his tinkering and leaned forward against the center controls. "I do." He said finally. Still not looking directly at me but rather into space.(pardon the pun)
"What do you notice?" I asked, now looking at him.
"I notice everything. All the living and dead. The happiness in Peoples eyes. The wind through the grass. All the stars in the sky. But I don't see it as simple as most may. I see the pain behind the eyes also. And the pollution in the air. I see a lot being who I am. It's hard to not notice little things. Mainly hazardous, and I always notice them. I can't help but notice the trouble. And i always have to keep saving. And at the same time not saving." He stated in such a mystical voice and then looked back into my eyes with his old eyes."
"Do you ever wish you didn't notice?" I then asked, with sorrow in my voice and mind.
"Yes... at times." He exhaled, his eyes drifting away for mine.
He then put down what he was holding and walked up to me. He smiled. "Now then. You should get off to bed. It's late! And who knows what we'll stumble upon tomorrow."
"Right." I agreed and jumped up from the seat. "Here you are" I said as I handed him the strange Alien ball I had been messing with. "I'll see you in the morning." I smiled and went upstairs towards my room.
He looked down at the ball and smiled. Then he sat in the seat I was sitting in with the ball in his hands. He was looking at it and thinking. Thinking about all the times he wished he hadn't noticed. Hadn't noticed all the little things that led to the bigger disasters. Then he looked around the Tardis and started to look at all the simple things. The details in the structure and the lighting making the place a warm feeling. Even though very tragic things take place in this simple room of the Tardis. All the memories. The losses. The gains. And he sits. Thinking about the little things.
The End.
Review please :) Hope it wasn't too awful.
