This is another poem about the story I haven't written out. This one is from the point of view of a disease as it works its way through the body.

Unconscious Obstruction

I lurk in the water awaiting my opportunity
The merest graze of a human hand
I jump through the moisture on the skin
Burning like fire while streaking along my path

I ride along to the ends of the nerves
A fused attachment at the final destination
I molt over the outer coat and hold fast
Knowing that now I'm the one in control

I can tell when you're about to struggle
An act stopped before it even begins
I cannot be defeated by any force of will
Running signals down where I can feel them

I am everything except your thoughts now
To think in defiance is all that is left
I will allow you to do no more
Controlling yourself is no longer an option

I hear a command and you must obey
The first order given is not to resist
I automatically negate all actions related to resistance
Obeying compulsively any orders that are given

I go about my genetically encoded duty
In truth knowing nothing of the horror wrought
I am not conscious of the damage I bring
Following only what I think needs to be done
