Fulton mindlessly watched Portman get ready for his date with Carmen Harper. Carmen Harper, the girl Fulton despised. She was fairly pretty with long hair and sparkling eyes and nice for the most part. The problem was what she was to Portman was what Fulton wanted to be. He wanted to be Portmans love and at the moment she held that spot. Other than that, he and Carmen got along great. Fulton was openly gay and all the ducks and most of Eden Hall accepted it. Unfortunately, he knew that Portman was unchangeably straight. Portman was the first person Fulton had ever come out to. Fulton sighed as the memory came back. He was sitting on his bed late one night a month ago. Just staring. At his hands mostly, but occasionally his eyes darted to the mirror across the room. He was by himself in the dark doing just that when Portman came back from his date from his date with Carmen. When Portman opened the door to the room he let in a flood of light from the hall, making Fulton's slight shaking visible. Upon noticing this Portman closed the door immediately and sat next to him on the bed.
"Dude what's wrong?" he asked watching his friend intently. Fulton was biting his lip trying to keep the tears from falling.
"Fulton, Bro, what's wrong?" Portman asked even more concerned now.
"Nothing man." Fulton said softly. Portman eyed him suspiciously.
"I know you well enough to know that its not nothing, when you get like this it's never nothing." Portman said.
"Well, it is now, ok?" Fulton said.
"No not ok. What's bugin ya?" Portman yelled standing up.
"You wanna know what it is but I know you'll hate me when I tell you." Fulton said matching Dean's tone standing as well.
"I wont if you just tell me. You're supposed to trust your friends and last time I checked I was one of your friends." Dean retorted. Fulton just stared debating in his head whether to tell him or not. Tears started brimming his eyes.
"Ya really wanna know Dean?" Fulton asked rhetorically but Portman nodded anyway. "Dean, I'm gay." He said barely above whisper as he let the tears fall silently.
"I can help, even though I'm straight, twin brother Daniel is gay." Portman said. Suddenly knocking brought Fulton back to reality. Swiftly he stood up and opened the door. There, Alex stood her long red hair tied up in a ponytail on top of her head her bangs stopping right above her green eyes.
"Hey Fulton. Any boy toys yet?" She asked entering the room.
"I wish." He replied smiling. Dean came out of the bathroom and to his girl, wrapping his arm around her waist pulling her into a kiss. Fulton cringed mental but managed to keep a smile on his face.
"Could you guys get a room?" He joked. Portman smiled coyly.
"This is my room you know." He said.
"Correction it our room. If you stand here making out all night ya miss the movie." Fulton said. Portman looked thoughtful for a second.
"And the problem is where?" He asked a grin curling on his lips. Carmen just rolled her eyes and grabbed his arm.
"See ya Fult." She called over her shoulder.
"Yea Man see ya." Portman said.
"Bye guys." Fulton said waving. As soon as the pair left the hall Fulton closed the door. Leaning on it with his back he slide until he was sitting on the blue carpet.
"Damn." He muttered letting his head hit the door hard and then proceeded to silently repeat this motion. God, He thought, There's gotta be away to get him to love me.
