Author's Note: A story about Syrene and Gilliam. Syrene and Gilliam's thoughts on their marriage and parenthood.

On a Windy Night

Syrene looks out of the house at the ocean that she loved so much. It was a windy night, but she didn't care. She wanted to feel the sand between her feet. She had been alone in the house every night this week and she needed to cheer up.

She walked out the back door and toward the beautiful beach. Holding her belly she sat down carefully on the shoreline. The wind moved her long beautiful green hair she loved so much into her face. She inhaled the lovely sea hair and thought about where her husband was tonight.

He had been working a lot lately so that they could have enough money to support a child. With her on leave to have their baby it was up to Gilliam to support them. Vanessa was too busy supporting Innes and the countries affairs to visit her. She missed talking to her like she used to. They were so close until after the war of the stones. They would always share their deepest secrets and talk about the men in their lives. When the baby is born I will have plenty of time to talk to her.

Gilliam was enough for her though. She always turned to him for answers and knew he would always be there. He was a strong and loving husband. She hoped their baby would be just like him. Their love was strange to everyone else because Gilliam was a silent strong man and she was a strikingly beautiful outgoing woman. They meshed so well together that they didn't care what others thought. Their love grew from a strong friendship. She could recall countless times where he comforted her during the war. She was so happy when he asked her to marry him. She will never forget that day.

Syrene snapped out of her busy thoughts. It was growing dark and the waves began to get closer. She walked along the water a little bit longer before it got too cold. She walked into the house and got ready for bed. She looked at her swollen belly and a smile formed on her lips. She would be a mother soon. She hoped it was boy, but Gilliam didn't care he just wanted a lot of them.

She lay down and started to sing to her baby. This is something she did every night before she went to sleep. She felt it comforted the baby and let it know she loved it. She drifted off to sleep and didn't hear the door open.

Gilliam stood at the end of the bed and looked at his beautiful wife. He was so tired and knew she would be happy to see him, but he didn't want to wake her. He would be a dad soon and surprisingly that scared him. He wanted many children, but now that is was happening it scared him a little. He was ready to be a father no matter how scared it seemed. He would protect them with his life. He wanted them to grow up with morals, and strength, and most of all in love for others.

Gilliam crept into bed behind Syrene and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed the back of her neck and whispered I love you so much. He fell asleep knowing that the morning would bring so much happiness for both of them.
