Don't Leave
Short drabble inspired by the song by the Ministry of Magic.
"Blaise!" Draco yelled running after his best… only… friend, "Blaise, wait!"
The Zabini heir paused to look back at his friend, bored expression forced firmly into place, "What?"
Draco faltered, Blaise was known for being cold, cruel and collected, but it was never something Draco had ever encountered himself, "Wh-why?"
Blaise raised one eyebrow, "Why not?"
Draco bit his lip and looked away, "Because I need you."
"Obviously not Draco!" Blaise snapped, fire flashing in his eyes as the cool exterior vanished in an instant, "You and I both know what they're doing is wrong! And you're just going along with it? I understand that you have extenuating circumstances that make it hard for you to leave, but don't expect me to just stand around and watch you royally screw up the rest of your life.
Blaise shook his head looking away from the other boy, "You're my best friend, Draco, the closest thing I have to family… I can't watch it… I wont"
Draco looked at his stoic mask back in place, "Fine. Leave. I've been on my own before, I can do it again."
Blaise shook his head, "I know you better than that Dray."
Both boys fell silent for an immeasurable moment before Blaise threw an arm around his friend and began steering him back into the house. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right, "C'mon mate, we're in this together."
"Don't make me choose between you and what we're fighting for
We all will loose if we give up and our efforts fall short
And I know it's been
Such a long time since we've just been friends
And not soldiers on the front line of a war
That we were born in to but we have to do this together
Don't leave me."
